When eating at the Crown Grill on Ruby Princess, I saw a young couple with a toddler seated by our table. Toddler was in a booster seat and the waiter immediately asked the Mom what he could bring the child before they even ordered drinks. He returned immediately with some dips, fruit and cheese, cut in tiny pieces and placed it in front of the child. This little girl was immediately content and the waiter continued to bring child "cut" meals. Kudos to waiters who recognize the importance of children dining. The child behaved perfectly throughout the meal!

The already cut bite size portions really impressed me and it was arranged in such a stimulating way that anyone would enjoy it. The toddler was absorbed in surveying all the different food choices! Even if the staff doesn't do it, nice way to encourage a toddler to eat and try new things versus a plastic bag of cheerios ...

When I traveled with my young kids on cruises, the servers were always great with them. Sometimes they would do magic tricks or would draw funny pictures for them. On Carnival cruises, back in the 80s, the servers had small machines that wiped crumbs off the table. The server would always let our youngest child use the machine to clean the table before dessert. He looked forward to it throughout the meal. They also always brought them their favorite dessert even if it wasn't on the menu. We always tipped them generously. It was worth it.

Oh this is great!! The waiter was awesome though more parents should be proactive in this realm. We've witnessed some real melt downs.
