Cruising in January

I’ve never taken a January Cruise. Thinking of cursing from New Orleans to Cozumel in January. What do you pack? Is it warm enough for fall type clothing? Swimming or should I pack winter stuff?

I'm from NE, it's cold here in January! We usually wear jeans down and back, as well as for the first few days (it doesn't start getting warm until we hit the Carolinas). We usually pack our jackets in our suitcase after we reach the cabin and switch to a sweatshirt or lighter jacket when we board for the first few days. After that, those are packed as well until we return.

Of course, everything I say here will prove to be wrong.

Not sure where you are from. I am from western New York. My favorite cruises are the Caribbean in December or January. Escape the cold, and enjoy the warmth. I wear a coat which gets packed into my suitcase inside the airport, and not worn again until I arrive back home. The significant other (if present) leaves her coat in our vehicle at the airport. The Caribbean in January is wonderful !! Be careful of the sun as it is intense. Baby northern skin can burn easily. Pack clothes for warm weather, and a light coat for possible rain (liquid sunshine). The pool deck should be full each day - and nobody wearing a winter coat. You will see many more bikinis than coats. Love Mucho mas !!!

Enjoy !!!

We like to sail January as we live in Colorado and it’s a nice break from the cold. We wear Summer clothing on the ship but also have layers in case it’s cool on the ship. Plus we have Winter traveling clothing.

Suggest you visit almost any one of the weather sites, and plug in New orleans...keep checking as the sail date gets closer. the predictions get more accurate you near the date. telling you what the weather WAS when we cruised out of there when we cruised is meaningless...could be nice, could be wretched...

Not sure what NOLA is like in January but once a day out of NOLA I would call it basically summer weather. We have sailed out of NY in late January and in mid December and found the islands all quite nice and toasty. Fla can be on or off that time of year but any ports in Gulf or Caribbean are usually nice and warm.
