On our last cruise we booked our excursion through Carnival. It was Isla Passion via Catamaran..well it's not really a catamaran, but a double decker type boat. That didn't bother me one bit. The excursion was all inclusive, and my son was free so that was a plus. It was super nice, the food was good, and the drinks weren't bad either. We were there for about 3 hours and then got back to the port in time to shop and people watch a bit. I've herd Mr. Sanchos is awesome, but you do have to reserve your spots in advance because they "sell out" fast. We may do that on our next one, it is not offered through the cruise line, but if you watch the time you can make it back with no problems.

We also went to Tulum and recommend it if you have never been. Tulum is a long drive and you really won't get much else done, but we are so happy to have done it. We also have done the Tequila tour to farthest end of the Island and found that most interesting. We have been on snorkeling adventures that are worth it if you like the water.

There are a number of good excursions depending on what you like. We went to the ruins at Tulum and absolutely loved them. They are an hours bus ride from port once you get on the main land from the ferry. For those that like to be entertained I hear Mr Sanchos is an excellent choice and Xcaret is also quite popular. Figure out first what type of outing you want for that day and then start choosing.

Depending on which cruise line you are on. We go Carnival, and they change excursions like the weather. (if it dont make money they dont offer it again) We went on a motorcycle guided excursion when on Conquest and we had a blast. They took us all over the island and had lunch at a nude beach, we were on Harleys. They have this offered no more, so you got to do it non Carnival if you desire. Another one Carnival quit doing was the Jose Cuervo tequila tour. You see the history of jose quervo and taste all their products. A good drunk for $60. You can do it non carnival for still $60. We been to Cozumel about 12 times now and we are not into swimming, etc as we live 6 miles from a beach, so now we just hang out at Margueritaville enjoying 5 oclock somewhere. Sad, we enjoyed those excursions, but we dont want to miss the ship doing non carny excursions.

We did the ruins, it was OK, interesting and nice to see more of the countryside on the drive out.

If you go into the jungle, take some Deep woods off with you...... mosquito city out at the ruins and very humid inland.

Mr Sanchos!

We did the city tour with beach escape as well as the submarine excursion in the first two trips to Cozumel. We find doing a tour of a port of call first helps you to decide what to see next should you ever return to the same port.
