Beaches in Cozumel and Costa Maya as Shore Excursions

Would appreciate any suggestions for beaches to visit while in port for the day at Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico. We are not interested in any of the planned Shore Excursions offered by the cruise lines for these destinations, they just seem to be a bit expensive. Would like to just go to a nearby beach and spend the day. I'm thinking some hotels offer day packages...can anyone recommend any? I'm thinking there were some taxis available at the dock last time we visited, but would love to feel safe in doing this option. We are cruising in late July, so plenty of time to consider our options. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Thanks!! This will help add to the decision for sure. My son will be 4 by then and we don't know how he will react to the water, beach etc. So it might be OK to walk there or take a taxi. It seems reasonable price wise.. and if it is not busy that's a bigger plus!

Thanks again!

Well I was reading yesterday Cozumel has a Waterpark which one of the packages include the beach. I haven’t been to Cozumel since 05 I’ve slept since then I couldn’t tell you the name of the beach but it was pretty. I only wish the water was a little more blue it’s more of a green color😒

but on another note I ate at Carlos and Charlie’s and heard they have one on the beach now try to check them out the food is off the chain and they make a damn good margarita!! Hope this helps travel safely!!

hi, I was just looking through the posts and saw your reply.

We did have a great time at eleven did a, but there is a drawback, it does not have a beach per Dr, you walk down and step off into the water. Now it was where you could see the bottom, but not sure how deep it was. There ppl standing out there, but one of our boys is affected by autism sand has some mobility issues. He would have had a very hard time getting back up.

Good items, never an empty glass, either virgin or alcohol drinks. No buffett since not many ppl there, but they insisted that we order any or everything from the menu without charge. Fish and shrimp tacos, wings, tenders and pizza galore.

It was a 2 block walk but with styles mobility issues 3 of the group took a taxi to ship for $8.

I hope this helps!

We go to Money Bar used to be called Dzul Ha we have been going here for years. This is not a beach that goes to the water edge, it is what they call Iron shore. What it is great for is diving and snorkeling! They have steps that go down to the water. You have to be aware of the currents here they can be strong at times! The taxi fare is about $10 for up to 4 people one way. They have taxies out front for your return if not just ask them to get you one. Also they rent snorkel gear if you do not bring your own.

I was looking into this one as they do not charge for kids under 8, but had seen some bad reviews and that it wasn't worth the money etc. and was thinking of doing Mr. Sanchos or Playa Mia.. we will have our 4 year old son with us. I also liked it that El Cid was so close to the ships. Our son is well behaved, but melt downs do occur from time to time and being so close we could walk back if one does happen. Please post an update on it if you all do go in November.

I've done Viator.com to book excursions. Most of the time, the excursions are cheaper than book with the ship. Also, if you are looking for a beach day, you can try Playa Uvas. We spent time there 2 years ago. Nice little beach club and not far from the port. Enjoy!!

You can take a taxi from just outside the port area for only a few dollars, and when you are ready to come back to the ship there will be several taxis waiting at Paradise Beach. We only paid the min amount so didn't use the beach toys, but we did buy lunch. The nachos were a huge portion, and really good. Happy

Through the website, the water looks amazing!! So inviting. I like that its close to the port and the price is great. We are a family of 5 so that's a big help and something for everyone.

I did Mr Sancho in Cozumel on June 2, 2017. I booked directly with them. The all inclusive cost was $55 with only a $5 deposit and you could cancel up to 24 hrs before arrival. It was a 10 minute taxi ride. You were seated on beach loungers or tables with umbrella. We decided on the table which was just a few feet from the beach, pool and buffet. It had 2 pools and swim up bar. Not only did they have a nice buffet, but they also have waiter service and regular menu with burgers, seafood & more. Also local venders and locker & towel rentals. I highly recommend them.

We love Paradise Beach and will be going back next spring. There's no need for water shoes - the beach area and pool are great.
