Yes it's the latest way to kill yourself.

RIP

Peace and Love

And their families, no matter the circumstances (likely stupid and involving an excess amount of alcohol) that resulted in them being off-ship into the water...

I think the craziest one I've heard of was last year when a passenger jumped rather than being taken to ship jail. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/carnival-cruise-passenger-overboard-mexico-b2017265.html

No amount of alcohol or any degree of arguing could cause me to think voluntarily abandoning a perfectly good vessel to be the best option...

i feel so sad for the family of the deceased.

i always think what are these people thinking. like it has been said nobody just falls off a ship. but i still feel bad for this person.

its very sad to hear stories like this.....

Agreed, well said.

Once upon a time, I had to jump from a 30-meter platform into a pool, wearing equipment not normally suited to swimming.

Your presented scenario would be the only time I would consider having my fat body outside the railing these days. Big Smile

When I was in the Navy, our ship stopped and let us jump overboard for a swim, then climb a jacobs ladder to get back board. The cruise ship needs to stop and let those who want to jump do so and then drop a jacobs ladder to get back on for a fee naturally, then wave the muster drill for life. Height makes no difference in the navy, we train to abandon ship on a carrier.

That is quite accurate. Maybe its just my life choices, but the thought of putting my fat ass over the railing at any point of the ship frankly scares the crap out of me.

Interesting reading some of the comments after the article. I read the first 20 or so and here's the one I think pretty much summed up the readers sentiments

Ok.. why do they keep saying "fell".. NOBODY "falls" off a cruise ship.. .NOBODY. They either jump are pushed or are being drunk imbeciIes and climb over the railings
