Carnival Splendor

February 2019 - 7 Night Mexican Riviera (Los Angeles Roundtrip) Cruise on Carnival Splendor

Just got off the Splendor on the 16th, have to say we really enjoyed her. The decor is quirky and we LOVED it!! Common areas were spacious and lines for food were manageable. We didn’t even really miss Guy Burger and Blue Iguana, so many options to choose from. As of most of our cruises with Carnival, staff was AMAZING as always and entertainment was A+.

Carnival Freedom

March 2018 - 7 Night Western Caribbean (Galveston Roundtrip) Cruise on Carnival Freedom

We just got off the Freedom yesterday 😢 we had an AMAZING trip!! The Freedom was a GREAT ship and the crew top notch. We stayed in cabin 8441 which was super conveniently located... only a few times did we hear deck chairs being moved around on the deck above. We had early dining in the Posh dining room and were blessed to have an aft window table, we got to see the sunset every night. Food throughout the ship was GREAT and drinks were yummy & strong. And to make it even better, lines were never long, which we were shocked since it was a Spring Break Cruise. With this being a full ship sailing, we were pleasantly surprised that all the common areas never felt “crowded”... we were VERY happy with the Freedom. There was a post a few weeks ago saying it “reeked of smoke”, we did not have that experience, only in the casino and to our delight even there it wasn’t all that bad (and we are very sensitive to it). We had ports in Cozumel, Belize and Roatan, here was our experience: Cozumel: we had booked our “original” excursion with Carnival (Cenote Hopping) BUT due to the ferry’s not running we cancelled that one and booked “plan B” excursion with shoreexcursioneer (deluxe Catamaran, snorkel, Jeep Island tour), we arrived and waited 45 minutes for our tour guide and they NEVER SHOWED!! We then decided to move onto our “plan C” and took a taxi to SkyReef resort, we did the all inclusive package, $65 per adult, and enjoyed AMAZING food, drinks and entertainment all day. The service was GREAT!! We swam/snorkeled and saw a lot of pretty fish (not much of a reef though). FUN day!! Belize: we booked with cave-tubing.com and from beginning to end had a BLAST! The entire crew was GREAT and what hard workers they are!! One of the guys told us he had a 3 hour ONE WAY commute to work each day!! This was our second time doing this excursion and LOVED it just as much as first time. The cave system and jungle is beautiful and we really enjoyed getting to see some of BEAUTIFUL Belize. Hands down one of our most FAVORITE ports of call, you get to experience the lovely people and culture, without it being “Americanized”. Roatan: we booked the fun-n-sun tour with Boddan Tours, our guide Anna was AMAZING!! We got to see all around this LOVELY Island. We were thrilled to get to hold monkeys, sloths and large macaws. Our last stop was at the Bananarama resort, we enjoyed a nice lunch and swam in the pristine water. A few in our group walked down and enjoyed the AMAZING reef just off shore.

Cruise tips

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

A+++ we left apart of our hearts in PV!!! WONDERFUL people abound, BEAUTIFUL paradise to explore... cannot wait to return again! Thanks to Canopy Tours for an UNFORGETTABLE day!!

Mazatlan, Mexico

We ended up booking our excursion through Carnival (colonial village of Sierra Madre) we did enjoy the cultural aspects of our tour, but the excursion itself was looong and mostly consisted of riding in a tour bus.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Whole reason we booked this cruise was to do whale watching in Cabo, and MAN did we enjoy a show!! We booked private boat with Whalewatchingcabo.com, A+++ rating!! Cabo is lovely and we look forward to our next visit.

Ensenada, Mexico

We decided to go shopping in town... we continuously were PHYSICALLY grabbed by store owners and dragged into stores!!! It literally was like every other step we took we were dealing with another coming our way. The final straw for us was when vendors started to TRY to separate us from our teenage daughter!!! We lasted and hour and headed back to the safety of the ship. We have been to many ports with "pushy" vendors, but NOTHING can compare to the brazenness we experienced in Ensenada. While we shopped, friends of ours decided to go to the blow hole (booked at the port NOT with Carnival) and they MISSED THE BOAT!! It was terrible!!! We are about to return in May, we will be staying on ship and enjoy the empty ship
