October 2015 - 12 Night Southern Caribbean (Miami Roundtrip) Cruise on Norwegian Getaway
Getaway from the NCL Getaway, Not that great.
The ship was beautiful, the staff was good, the shows were great. The food was BELOW standard from what I have typically received on 5 other cruise lines. Various restaurant menu selections were very limited. The buffet was not worth the elevator ride. The Cagney Steak House $75.00 (for 2) was good. The Seafood restaurant was only fair, 2 shrimp dinners $77.00. Very little directions or instructions through out the ship about various activities, events or debarkations, too many inconsistancys to mention. I had the drink package and I had to sign for EVERY drink, how stupid is that. Lastly, I left my cell phone charging in the stateroom when we left the ship, I checked with lost and found and I was just told it was never found, That says something about staff honesty. Will not sail NCL again...

Not the best family cruise.
Let me preface the above review by stating my wife and I have cruised dozens of times on many different cruise lines. This was a family vacation cruise for 8 of us. I do not recommend this ship.

The food was 5 star. The ship was 5 star. Dining & room staff was 5 star. The Captain was a unbelievably hilarious, what a personality. The shows were out of this world. The only negatives we found were; tables around buffet areas were not bused very often. I often had to find a bar for a drink, more roving bar waiters would be nice. Debarkation, especially customs was horrible, porters were nowhere to be seen.

No surprise, Celebrity has the best shows.
The tables for 2, are lined up side by side, so the people on either side of you are closer to you than your spouse, very not private and un-romantic.

FASTEST embarkation and debarkation we have experienced in 25 years of cruising.
Nice clean port, tons of shopping. Had a fantastic time at the Chocolate, Tacos & Tequila excursion. A very good tequila tasting session with lots of quality tequila after.

Always try the "Drink of the Day". They were very fruity and affordable.
