Carnival Corporation has announced that it has entered a new agreement with SpaceX's Starlink to provide faster and more reliable WiFi across the global fleet of all its company’s brands.

This fleet roll-out of Starlink for Carnival Corporation began in December 2022 with Carnival Cruise Line and AIDA Cruises ships, with upcoming plans to expand Starlink to Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Seabourn, P&O Cruises (Australia and UK), Costa Cruises, and Cunard.

According to Carnival Corporation, the Starlink service will rival an on-land WiFi connectivity experience, allowing guests to stay connected while on vacation. The Starlink service has nearly tripled fleetwide bandwidth and continues to enhance connectivity for all onboard any Carnival Corporation brand ship.

"For many of our guests, it has become more and more important to maintain the type of connectivity at sea that they've become accustomed to at home, and of course to share the unforgettable experiences of their cruise with friends and family," said Josh Weinstein, CEO of Carnival Corporation. "We are in the business of delivering happiness, and Starlink makes it as easy as possible for our guests to share all their great moments and memories, giving them even more joy out of their cruise vacation."

With this rollout of faster connectivity, Carnival Corporation has plans to introduce new onboard services and updated systems to help boost connectivity for guests as well as ship communications.

"The added bandwidth will give the brands the capabilities and flexibility to introduce new guest services and features, as well as help boost operational functions like onboard equipment monitoring and real-time communications between ship and shore teams. And importantly, adding Starlink's innovative technology to the company's existing connectivity platform will also help our amazing crew stay in touch with friends and loved ones" said Weinstein.

Following the fleet-wide roll-out, Carnival Corporation brands will join several other cruise companies using the SpaceX Starlink systems. Royal Caribbean Group (Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea) has plans to roll out Starlink fleetwide by the end of Q1 2023. Other lines including Norwegian Cruise Line and Hurtigruten are also in the process of incorporating the high-speed communications system.
