Royal Caribbean Names Chief Dog Officer for Star of the Seas
Royal Caribbean has announced a special officer appointment for the upcoming ship, Star of the Seas. This past week, the cruise line announced that it will have a Chief Dog Officer named ‘Sailor’ on its second Icon Class ship. The new pup will make its first appearance when the ship launches in the summer of 2025.
Earlier this year, Royal Caribbean introduced its first-ever Chief Dog Officer, Rover on Icon of the Seas. Rover’s onboard duties include greeting crew members and guests, enjoying walks around the deck, and spending time in the bridge assisting Captain Loy. Rover has taken well to his job since Icon of the Seas debuted in January, spreading joy to the thousands of guests and crew members who have had the chance to meet him along the way.
Royal Caribbean shared the following video of Rover to announce the debut of his soon-to-be sibling coming to Star of the Seas:
Details have yet to be shared regarding Sailor’s breed, age, and ship responsibilities. We will share any additional details as soon as they become available here at Cruiseline.com!
Sailor will begin their new role when Star of the Seas makes its debut on August 31, 2025. The vessel is currently under construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland.
Like sister ship Icon of the Seas, Star of the Seas will have eight neighborhoods, more than 40 bars/restaurants, and cutting-edge entertainment. For its inaugural season, Star of the Seas will sail 7-night Western and Eastern Caribbean voyages from Port Canaveral, Florida.
