Royal Caribbean International announced that it will be delaying the launch of its second Icon Class vessel, Star of the Seas. The ship was originally initially slated to make its inaugural voyage on August 27, 2025. Star of the Seas will now debut on August 31, 2025, sailing from Port Canaveral, Florida.

In a note to booked guests and travel advisors, Royal Caribbean shared the following, “While we’re working hard on completing our newest Icon Class ship, the Star of the Seas, and after a review of the work that remains to be done, we’re unfortunately forced to delay the ship’s delivery date.”

Any guests booked on the August 27, 2025, voyage are urged to reach out to Royal Caribbean or their travel advisor for rebooking options, with the option to transfer the booking to the new inaugural Star of the Seas voyage on August 31, 2025. Alternatively, guests can cancel their booking and receive a full refund.

About Star of the Seas

Star of the Seas is currently under construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland. This past January, the ship marked an important construction milestone with a keel-laying ceremony. The vessel will be Royal Caribbean’s third to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and is being built with a lineup of industry-leading environmental programs.

Like sister ship Icon of the Seas, Star of the Seas will have eight neighborhoods (including Thrill Island, Chill Island, AquaDome, and the open-air Central Park), more than 40 bars/restaurants, and cutting-edge entertainment options.

Star of the Seas will spend its inaugural season sailing 7-night Western and Eastern Caribbean voyages from Port Canaveral. Depending on the itinerary, port stops include Perfect Day at CocoCay, Basseterre, Cozumel, Philipsburg, Roatan, or San Juan. Bookings are now open for Star of the Seas cruises through April 2026.
