(Latest Update: February 14, 2022) Carnival Cruise Line modified its deployment plans for ships in Jacksonville, Port Canaveral, Mobile, Seattle, and Australia as it continues to successfully restart passenger cruising around the world. In addition to these changes, it has been announced that Carnival Ecstasy and Carnival Sensation (both Fantasy-class ships) will be departing from the Carnival Cruise Line fleet.

“Our guests have remained passionate and supportive throughout the restart and 2022 gives us plenty of reasons for enthusiasm and excitement as we reach full operations in the U.S., prepare for our 50th birthday celebration, and await the arrival of Carnival Celebration this fall,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “Our very loyal guests, our vibrant homeport strategy and our fleet of popular ships are strengths to our advantage as we adapt to changing opportunities and circumstances.”

Carnival’s initial plans for ship restarts involved replacing Carnival Ecstasy with Carnival Sensation in Mobile, with cruises slated to resume March 5, 2022. To replace Carnival Ecstasy in Jacksonville, Carnival Spirit will take over for the March 7, 2022 restart.

Carnival Cruise Line has announced these new updates for restart plans:

Jacksonville: Carnival Spirit will replace Carnival Ecstasy in Jacksonville to operate all cruises from March 6 - April 9, 2022. Carnival will cancel the next two previously April scheduled sailings from Jacksonville, and then Carnival Elation will move from Port Canaveral to Jacksonville, from April 23, 2022, to October 13, 2022.

Mobile: Carnival Ecstasy will sail from Mobile from March 5, 2022, through October 10, 2022. Previously scheduled cruises from Mobile on Carnival Sensation from October 15, 2022, through September 30, 2023, have been canceled. Carnival will share a new operating plan for Mobile cruises at a later time.

Port CanaveralCarnival Freedom will move from Miami to Port Canaveral to pick up the itineraries formerly assigned to Carnival Elation, effective Apr. 21 through Oct. 15, 2022.

Seattle: Carnival Spirit will operate cruises to Alaska from May 2022 through Sept. 2022. Carnival Splendor will reposition to Seattle and operate Alaska sailings currently assigned to Carnival Freedom

Australia: Due to the ‘continued uncertainty of cruising in Australia’ Carnival has canceled operations of Carnival Splendor from June 10, 2022, through September 26, 2022, and of Carnival Spirit from June 5, 2022, to October 5, 2023. Upon completion of the summer season in Alaska, Carnival Splendor will return to Australia with a new Journeys cruise to Sydney, Australia. Details on these sailings will be available from Carnival soon.

In conjunction with this new deployment plan, Carnival will not restart guest operations on Carnival Sensation. Carnival Ecstasy will operate its last passenger cruise on October 10, 2022. Both ships will then leave the Carnival Cruise Line fleet.

According to Carnival by March 2022, the line will have resumed service in all ten of its year-round U.S. homeports. By the time its Alaska season returns this May, Carnival will have returned its entire fleet to service.
