Return to Cruising Ship Guide: Disney Fantasy
When is Disney Fantasy slated to resume operations?
Disney Fantasy will resume cruising from Port Canaveral, Florida, on September 11, 2021. The ship will sail several 4-night Caribbean itineraries throughout September and October, making a two-day stop at Disney Cruise Line’s private island Castaway Cay.
From September 3 - November 1, 2021, the Bahamas requiresg that all cruise ship passengers ages 12+ be fully vaccinated for a ship to be allowed entry into any of its cruise ports, including private islands like Disney’s Castaway Cay. All guests ages 12 and older on Disney cruises must be fully vaccinated to board the ship to comply with this new requirement.
Guests under the age of 12 will be required to provide proof of a negative lab-based COVID-19 PCR test taken between 5 days - 24 hours prior to the sail date by uploading their test results to the line's Safe Passage Inspire website. In addition, all guests will be required to undergo a second COVID-19 PCR test administered by Inspire Diagnostics at the terminal before boarding.
Cruising on Disney Fantasy? Here’s our guide to everything you need to know before you board.
About the Ship: Disney Fantasy is the fourth member of the Disney Cruise Line fleet and features activities from franchise favorites Star Wars, Marvel, and more. The ship last went through a renovation in 2017. Onboard you will find a range of amenities, eateries, entertainment options, and programs that are sure to please everyone from the youngest sailors up to the young at heart. If you're planning on cruising with Disney, it should come as no surprise that Fantasy is a family-friendly ship. From kid-pleasing touches and ship-wide interactive artwork to princess-themed dining, this vessel is designed to appeal to young cruisers and families. However, the ship does offer several adults-only spaces for those looking to spend some time relaxing away from the kids.
At full capacity (before any COVID restrictions), this extra-large ship can accommodate up to 4,000 total passengers and offers 1,250 cabins.
Activities + Entertainment: Anyone ages 0 - 100+ is certain to find something to do on the Disney Fantasy! One of the largest highlights of sailing with Disney is the numerous opportunities for character meet and greets with Mickey, Minnie, and the gang. Other awesome activities onboard include top-notch kids and teens programming, the Aqua Park, Goofy’s Sports Deck, an arcade, numerous pools, Senses Salon, a health and fitness center, and a jogging track.
Disney Cruise Line is known for its spectacular entertainment, bringing animated classics to life through live performances. Live shows on Disney Fantasy include ‘Aladdin - A Musical Spectacular’, ‘Frozen - A Musical Spectacular’, and Disney’s ‘Believe’. Another highlight you will find during sailing is spectacular ‘Fireworks at Sea’ shows, featuring fireworks illuminating the night sky accompanied by Disney songs.
Dining: In a unique twist to onboard dining, Disney cruisers are assigned a waiter at the beginning of their sailing. Passengers and crew are then rotated through the ship's three themed main dining areas during the cruise, making it easy to experience the ship’s different dining experiences.
Disney Fantasy’s three main dining experiences include an innovative dinner show at the Animator's Palate, the Versailles-inspired Enchanted Garden, and Royal Court - the ship's homage to Disney fairytales. For passengers looking for a more casual venue, check out Flo’s Cafe for lunch, or grab a sweet treat at Eye Scream or Frozone Treats. Adults looking for a night to themselves can head to Remy, serving gourmet French cuisine, or Palo, offering elegant Italian-inspired dishes.
Pricing: Sailings are booking up fast with Disney Fantasy returning to cruising in the Caribbean! Right now, you can expect basic accommodations to start at around $200 per night. Want a little extra space to spread out? We recommend booking a balcony cabin, which currently starts at $270 per night.
We highly suggest booking NOW as prices are likely to only go up!
What to Expect at Embarkation & Onboard Protocols
Prior to embarkation, guests ages 12+ will be required to present proof of vaccine prior to boarding. Guests under 12 will be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken between 5 days - 24 hours prior to the cruise by uploading to the line's Safe Passage Inspire website. All guests will be required to undergo a rapid PCR COVID-19 test at the terminal prior to boarding the ship. Each guest will also need to complete an online check-in form at least 30-days prior to cruising, which will include selecting a port arrival time.
Guided by recommendations from the CDC, Disney Cruise Line is reducing onboard guest capacity as well as incorporating additional health and safety-related measures on all of its ships. While sailing you can expect to find additional hand sanitizer stations, markers for social distancing, enhanced cleaning procedures, and physical barriers such as plexiglass.
All guests ages two and up (including those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19) are required to wear face masks indoors, except in their staterooms or actively eating or drinking. Face coverings are not required outdoors while onboard the ship and at Castaway Cay. Masks may be required in ports of call based on local government requirements.

What a great family vacation!! The staff is amazing, as well as the service. The boat was super clean, and also beautiful to look at! I can’t see our family doing another cruise line, DISNEY is top of the line! - paradael8989218
This is a great cruise for families, no doubt about it. It has the perfect balance between kid and adult activities. - ingurenaserulle
Disney Cruise food is better than other cruise lines I’ve experienced. Entertainment is fabulous. The ship is maintained immaculately. I can’t wait to plan another Disney Cruise. - ka33lo
Disney Fantasy will make a two-day stop at Castaway Cay, Bahamas, Disney Cruise Line’s own private island. There’s a ton to see and do on the island so we recommend researching and planning your time in port before you get there! The island is home to many family-friendly activities featuring the natural beauty of the island, while also incorporating magic and entertainment the way that only Disney knows how to create. The island offers separate adult, family, and sports-focused beaches for sunbathing and activities.
