When is Grand Princess slated to resume operations?
(Latest Update: October 14, 2021) Grand Princess will be the first Princess Cruises ship to restart cruising from California. Beginning September 25, 2021, the ship will sail a number of California Coast and Mexican Riviera itineraries. Depending on the itinerary, port stops include San Diego (California), Ensenada (Mexico), and Cabo San Lucas (Mexico).
All guests sailing with Princess Cruises through the end of February 2022, must have received a final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior to the beginning of the cruise. To board the ship, each guest must present proof of vaccination and proof of a negative viral COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen) taken within 2 days of embarkation. According to Princess Cruises, there is no age restriction for sailing with the line, however they require ALL guests to be vaccinated.

About the Ship: Grand Princess is one of Princess Cruises’ larger-sized vessels. At full capacity (excluding COVID-19 restrictions) the ship can accommodate up to 2,590 passengers and includes 1,301 total cabins. The ship first debuted in 1998 and was last refurbished in 2019. Grand Princess is home to many signature Princess Cruises’ venues, such as the outdoor poolside movie theatre, the Italian-inspired Piazza, and The Sanctuary. In its latest revamp, the ship received new amenities such as the Leaves Tea Lounge & Library, an Alfredo's pizzeria, and The One5 nightclub.
Activities + Entertainment: Grand Princess is home to a number of entertainment venues and activities guaranteed to please passengers of all ages. A selection of onboard highlights includes a Fine Art gallery, kids and teens clubs, an internet cafe, a wedding chapel, four pools, a shopping arcade, Lotus Spa, a fitness center, jogging track, practice putting at Princess Links, and a Sports Deck featuring deck chess and a shuffleboard court.
Come nighttime, guests can enjoy movies under the stars at the poolside theatre, see featured guest entertainers and Broadway-style shows at the Princess Theatre, test their luck at the casino, or enjoy cocktails at one of the numerous lounges and bars.
Dining: Grand Princess offers a number of dining options throughout the ship, from endless buffet choices to gourmet pizza, frosty treats, high-end cuisine, and everything in between. With Princess’ ‘Dine My Way’ guests can reserve when and where they would like to eat as opposed to a set time and location.
Included dining options on the ship are Crafted by Curtis Stone, Chocolate Journeys, Alfredo’s Pizzeria, International Cafe, Horizon Court, The Salty Dog Grill, and Coffee & Cones. For guests looking to splurge, specialty eateries include Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria, Crown Grill, Chef’s Table, Vines Wine Bar, and Ultimate Balcony Dining.
Pricing: Sailings are filling up quickly with the return of Princess Cruises to the California Coast, and prices are changing daily. Right now you can expect to pay about $70 per person per night for entry-level accommodations. Consider booking a balcony cabin, so you can enjoy the spectacular views of the ocean from your own private oasis. Balcony cabins on Grand Princess currently start around $110 per person, per night and go up from there based on location and category.

What to Expect at Embarkation & Onboard Protocols
Princess Cruises’ pre-embarkation protocol include a mandatory health screening of 100% testing for COVID-19, touchless temperature checks, and health questionnaires. All Princess Cruises’ embarkation protocols will be set in accordance with the latest CDC guidelines. Secondary screenings and health checks will be performed throughout the cruise when necessary. Contact tracing is also planned for every cruise.
Onboard, Princess will have protocols in place for social distancing in entertainment venues and restaurants. When physical distancing can’t be maintained, or when mandated by public health authorities. Guests age 12 and older will be required to wear face masks in elevators and in designated indoor entertainment areas, all retail shops, and in the casino and dining rooms, except when eating or drinking, as well as in other designated areas where larger number of guests may congregate.
