2022 Member Choice Awards: Cruise Line Onboard Experience

We pulled together reviews that members of the Cruiseline.com community submitted this past year to get the rankings of the top cruise lines, which stood out among the rest for the onboard experience. These awards represent our member’s top picks for the best cruise lines for food/dining, onboard activities, and the best-ranked overall service.

These are our winners of the 2022 Member Choice Awards for cruise line onboard experience: 

Best Cruise Line - Food & Dining

There’s one thing cruisers expected not to change during their cruise experience in 2021 - the ability to get a delicious meal on vacation! This award combines our member’s picks for the best food and dining experience at sea. 

These are the 2022 Member Choice Award Winners of Best Cruise Line for Food & Dining: 

1. Celebrity Cruises - 4.622

2. Royal Caribbean - 4.519

3. Disney Cruise Line - 4.468

4. Regent Seven Seas Cruises - 4.465

5. AmaWaterways - 4.451

Celebrity Cruises kept its top spot for the award of best cruise line for food and dining. The line continued to wow members with creative cuisine at eateries like Le Petite Chef, Murano, Sushi on Five, Blu, and the Mast Cafe. Coming in at number two was Royal Caribbean. This past year, guests who sailed with Royal Caribbean ranked it high for its eclectic range of included and specialty venues on each ship. Disney Cruise Line came in just behind at number three, receiving high marks for family-friendly eateries like Animator’s Palace and specialty venues Remy and Palo.

Best Cruise Line for Onboard Activities 

Cruise lines developed innovative onboard programming and amenities for guests of all ages to rank highly in this category. In addition, with ship capacities at historically lowest levels, guests could easily participate in many shipboard activities.

5. Carnival Cruise Line - 4.019

This year’s top cruise line for onboard activities is returning champion Royal Caribbean. With ships jam-packed with activities for kids and adults alike, it’s no surprise that members come back raving about the multitude of things they could check out on their voyage. Several Royal Caribbean's Oasis-class vessels returned to the seas in 2021 at a reduced capacity. Guests could explore these mega-ships whenever they wanted without waiting in the typical lines. Members raved about these ships’ extreme activities like ‘The Perfect Storm’ waterslides, skydiving simulators, and ‘Ultimate Abyss’ - the tallest waterslide at sea!

Best Cruise Line for Service and Staff

This past year, cruise line crew members and staff were not only tasked with creating an unforgettable experience for guests but also a safe environment that fulfilled health protocol requirements. This included enhanced cleaning measures, catering spaces for social distancing, and learning and implementing a number of new procedures. 

Many of our members who cruised in the past year remarked how excited crew members seemed to be back sailing again with guests onboard. Crew members’ dedication to creating a memorable vacation for passengers, despite the challenges of the times, reflects highly upon the cruise line. The best line for service and staff award recognizes those efforts to create outstanding service above and beyond guests' expectations.

3. Celebrity Cruises - 4.778

5. Silversea Cruises - 4.751

Princess Cruises came in at the top of the pack in the service and staff category. Our members ranked the line high for the outstanding quality experience that the crew provided to guests and all onboard. In addition, reviewers commented on Princess Cruises' sanitization of ship spaces by the crew, which made them feel comfortable while sailing. Despite the many challenges that cruising presented last year, we congratulate Princess Cruises’ crew and staff for going above and beyond.
