Carnival Liberty

January 2018 - 3 Night Bahamas (Port Canaveral Roundtrip) Cruise on Carnival Liberty

Enjoyable Short Cruise

Overall we had a good trip, and our family of eight all enjoyed the ship and the port visit to Nassau. The sit down breakfast was excellent, and the evening dining room was also good. The buffet was just so so, but the burgers at Guy's were great! We enjoyed all the shows and entertainment. Cruise Director Cookie and his team did a great job!

Carnival Paradise

November 2017 - 4 Night Western Caribbean (Tampa Roundtrip) Cruise on Carnival Paradise

This ship is older and in need of updating. We knew that going in. That being said, the hard working crew is what makes the Paradise such an enjoyable experience. The cruise director Jamie and her team really went above and beyond to make the cruise fun and enjoyable. The ship was very clean and our cabin attendant Ida was great. The shows were great, and Scotty K. the comedian was hillarious. The food was very good in the dining rooms, but the buffet was just so so. We felt that the buffet dining area was a little crowded and under staffed, as it was hard to find a clean table a couple of times. Cozumel was fun, and embarking and dis-embarking in Tampa were easy. I definitely recommend the faster to the fun upgrade! My only real complaint about this cruise is the smoking. It's hard to get away from cigarette smoke on this ship. A lot of the trivia contests and games are held directly across from a smoking bar which makes them hard to enjoy if you don't enjoy sucking down second hand smoke. You have to walk through the smoke filled casino to get to most venues. Also, we had a balcony room and the people in the room ahead of us kept smoking on their balcony, which kept blowing smoke and ashes back on us. We complained to the service desk several times, but they failed to do anything to stop it. All in all, it was a nice cruise and we had a fun time!

Cruise tips

Nassau, Bahamas

We've visited Nassau before, and it's alright, but it isn't our favorite. We decided to stay on the ship this time as there were five large cruise ships in port as well as spring breakers all over the place. I really wish they wouldn't book so many ships in port at the same time. You literally don't have any room to move on the pier or any of the areas close to the ships. Plus you really get hassled by vendors when getting off the ship in Nassau.

Just like everyone else says, book everything as far in advance as you can. A lot of things can't be booked until you're actually on the ship. It's a hassle on the first day, but take the time to reserve everything you want, and the rest of your cruise will be much more relaxing. Several times we saw upset cruisers who tried to book things three or four days into the cruise and couldn't get what they wanted. The racetrack and laser tag fill up fast -- book them as soon as you get on board!

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Awesome port. Our favorite of the cruise. The beaches are great, and be sure to check out the mountain top...beautiful! We booked privately through Sunny Liston tours and did a beach/mountain top/shopping tour and had a great time. The ride up and down the mountain is crazy!

Reserve all dining and shows in advance.

Faster to the fun is well worth it - you get on and off faster. Also, if you use a porter when exiting the ship you get out a little ahead of everyone else in line for customs. If you or your family want to participate in shows (get called on stage), you need to be on the first floor of the main theater.
