Review summary

Do not sail on the Norwegian Star until they fix the engine (azipod) issues. You will miss ports or spend a shorter time in ports then they say. You will then get extra sea days instead. This ship has had problems since it was put into service and they did not fix the problem when it was in renovations in 2018. Food had progressively gotten worse on Norwegian since they went to the "Freestyle Dining" system. Basically what they have done is made the food at the complimentary restaurants and buffet very poor hoping you will pay the expensive prices at there specialty restaurants. I will not be sailing on Norwegian again after this experience.

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
The Complimentary food is the worst food I have every had on a cruise. I believe this is because they want to pay for they expensive (cost more then eating at a restaurant at home) specialty restaurants. The food on the buffet was very poor, can't even get a good hot dog or pizza, and the food in the main dining room was also poor. Steak was actually less than a 1/4" thick.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
This was not one of the bigger ships and the weather was colder so the pool was only available a couple of day, but not a huge selection of activities.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Shows were not extravagant but were ok for a ship this size.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Staff was ok and friendly but seemed to be inexperience.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Cleanliness was very good, layout was a bit different. I think when they keep trying to add more specailty restaurants it could be a bit confusing.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Cabin was a mini suite and was nice and clean and the size was good. Only issue was it was below the buffet and every morning around 4am they were moving furniture and carts around and could wake you up.

Ship tip

Don't sail on the Norwegian Star until they fix the engine (azipod) issues. You will not get to all the ports and will have a shorter time then they say in the ones you do stop at.

Did not go here since the engine (azipod) broke the evening before. Only could go 13.5 knots after this point instead of the 22 knots we were doing before

Port Stanley, Falkland Islands

Very nice area and nice people. Went to the Bluff lagoon tour and saw King and Genti penguins. Stanley is also a very neat and clean city.
