Go on a shore excursion to Florence. That'd save a lot of hassle.That way if you were delayed, at least you'd be guaranteed to get back to the ship.

It’s very easy to catch the train and it’s very cheap. Just Google how to get there from Livorno. It’s very expensive to do an excursion and half of it is on a bus.
