After numerous cruises, this showed the service had fallen quite a bit and they charge for every little thing, it gets old, probably ruined us for future cruises with Carnival. Maybe other lines will be explored.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
speedy
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Buffet was predictable, same food most of the time....it was good.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
can't do much of anything, too crowed. Except fitness, which was fine, but more than half the tread mills and elipticals didn't work and had signs on them
Entertainment
1 out of 5
Not enough seating in most venues and the host of the comedy club was very rude to people, not us, but others. He would not clear the room between shows, he claimed he did, but it was obvious he didn't. Caused many newcomers to not get seating.
Service and Staff
1 out of 5
Our steward and one dining room waiter was excellent. We tipped them special. Many others were rude if all you wanted was water, if you weren't getting drinks, you were ignored. Some hosts of entertainment were condescending and flippen.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
older but nice ship
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
We did like the cabin and would get it again, but probaly on another cruise line.
Ship tip
Don't pay for the drink package, you will get watered down drinks gradually. and you also have the tips to pay which makes it cheaper to buy drinks individually in many cases, especially if you go off ship.
DO NOT PAY ANY ATTENTION TO THIS SO CALLED REVIEW. THE CARNIVAL SUNSHINE IS S FANTASTIC SHIP. SO MANY FREE EATING VENUES, SO MUCH TO DO. CARNIVAL STAFF IS THE BEST ON THE SEAS. This person sounds like they are a joy to be around. Have a good time on another cruise line negative person....LOVE THE SUNSHINE AND CARNIVAL!!!
Just to add a little to this complaint list.....the sun was too shiny and warm...there was no work for a week...(or how ever long cruise was)... the water was too blue and beautiful for the liking.
Other lines charge for way many more things than Carnival does. Sunshine is tight, comedy lounge is way to small and the open deck space is way to small but that is what happened when they added a 100 rooms to the ship a number of years ago. Havana Lounge in the back of the ship is the best spot all times. Least crowded for breakfast, bands play at nighttime and always seating room, good place to get away from the crowds.
Most mainstream cruise lines have cut back on things over the past 10-20 years. As far as extra charges, we rarely pay for anything other than the basic cruise fare and gratuities and have a great time. If you want a more all-inclusive experience, try Seabourn, Crystal, Symphony, Viking or Regent Seven Seas. Just be prepared to pay 3-5+ times what Carnival charges.
