Paying to Pee

I avoid public restrooms at all cost but sometimes it can't be avoided. Mexico seems to charge 25 cents to a dollar to use the restroom, which frequently don't have toilet paper. I now carry quarters, some kleenex and wet-wipes because many don't have running water either.

Yes, no one likes to have to pay to use the rest room but in China you don't pay to use the bathroom. However, more times than not it is just a hole in the floor. I'd rather pay a quarter and have a Western WC. Just saying...

Todd, I have run into that in Cabo and Ensenada also...... in Cabo sometimes water runs in the gutters, do not get splashed by it is all I can say.

In Cozumel I was at a few of the beach places around the island and I have never seen before the signs instructing to "Do not throw paper in the toilet, use the waste basket" sure enough there was a basket with used toilet paper. NASTY! I couldn't bring my self to do that. Tossed it in the toilet flushed and washed got on the scooter and boogied in case of an eruption. Sorry.Nervous

Sounds like a load of........Biffy to me............ but I have ordered some for travel. LOL better safe then sorry

I wouldn't recommend it, if I didn't use it.

You asked for it......

Any Marines in the forum? I was on pariss island for a educator workshop and had to go to the bathroom during the confidence course.... No doors, no TP....

We've been to Mexico a few times and never had to pay to use washrooms in Cancun, Cozumel, PV, Cabo or Mazatlan. We did have to pay in a couple of European cities. I remember paying to use the bathroom in a local department store at home, years ago, so it's not too uncommon.

Reminds me of the washroom in Cartegena Columbia. I've seen outhouse in the bush that were more modern than that. Watching some of the people and their faces when they saw it was hilarious.

Gives a whole new meaning to "Don't Drink the Water so you don't have to pee"
