Close Call Getting Back on Ship ....

On a Princess Cruise ported in Victoria, BC, my son was late getting back to the ship. Surprisingly, someone called me and asked for his cell # and told me they would wait 25 minutes for him. A courtesy I did not expect ... He arrived 5 minutes later with 4 other passengers who had been delayed in traffic. Cutting it way too close not a good thing.

Victoria can be a real mess if there are traffic problems. We lived there for a few years, and sometimes traffic was at a complete standstill for no apparent reason. I'm glad your son made it back to the ship before it left.

YES!

We have left people in Hawaii, Kuai, last port before going home. The ship waited an hour. As we pulled out and out 300 yes from the dock the came running out onto the dock. Some folks missed the ship in Cozumel on one cruise. I am like Johngold, we always leave a good window to get back tothe ship.

Lollygag----Don't you just love that word?Big Smile

My son's group had experienced an accident with a taxi ... technically they did not get back late and the ship did not have to wait ... if they know 30 minutes from departure time, who's missing and make attempts to locate them, that's a good thing.

Since the excursions guarantee the ship will wait, I have experienced an hour delay due to that. However, I agree with you wholeheartedly about the people who simply lollygag getting back to the ship.

When I was on Fantasy waiting to leave Nassau. The ship was 30 minutes late in departing. It made be kind of mad to see some stragglers just schlepping back to ship. Taking their time without a care in the world they were holding up the ship. Wish we left them. I would have gladly waved to them.

Wow that is always my worst nightmare to miss the boat, that is why I am like Johngold. There with lots of time to spare. Nothing worse, but entertaining in the same breath watching people literally run down the dock as the ship is pulling away. Glad he made it!

I will always err on the side of caution. In Hawaii some one missed the boat and had to fly to the next port. Lucky for them it was not the last stop in the Islands.

I tend to be a bit OCD about that. I don't want to get stuck somewhere without the wherewithal to get out.... I'm not THAT adventurous.
