Carnival Triumph

Carnival Triumph

Sail date: February 02, 2013

We were delayed but made it home safely, next cruise is "stranded" in the gulf of mex.

We were notified by Carnival not to come to Galveston until 3pm for boarding as previous ship had propulsion problems and was running late. We left Galveston at 6.15 pm instead of the original departure time of 4 pm. Things were ok until we left Cozumel and ran into a storm on the way back to Galveston. The ship started running roughly and listed to the left hand side---it took over 20 minutes for us to feel like we were "straight" again....things fell off the tables in the dining room, waiters dropped dishes, drawers came open in our cabin, luggage fell out of closets, and water from the decks above with pools/hot tubs, etc. came onto our balcony's and into the room and there was a couple of inches of water in our hallways. They cleaned this up as quickly as possible. Communication was an issue...no one told us anything until about an hour later when our cruise director said things were ok. Then the captain came on and said we'd be in Galveston early and could get off the ship early because of fog. Later I heard we had an re-occuring propulsion/engine problem during the storm and they needed to have time to look at prior to the next cruise group boarding, so we were hurrying back to port. Evidentially it wasn't fixed as the next group of travelers are adrift in the gulf of mexico awaiting transportation to get them back to shore either in galveston or progresso. Since there was trouble with the propulsion system on two previous trips then it looks like it should have been fixed before it finally stranded passengers in the gulf. Crew was nice, ship was nice, and I guess things can happen to any ship. It's just a shame that there isn't any way to give more time to repairs, but I guess that would have shorted our cruise and then 3,200 more passengers would have been upset.
