An excellent cruise

Sail Date: February 17, 2012

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

It was our first time on Holland America and we were very impressed with all the little extras on board - to include the fresh fruit in the cabins, the exceptional cleanliness of the entire ship, and the mouth watering food. The crew are all so happy - it is nice to see people that enjoy their jobs - it must be a good company to work for.

Pros: the itinary

Cons: evening entertainment

Recommends Zuiderdam? No.

There were many activities but many were geared toward an older crowd. the clientele is slightly older than other cruise lines.
Ship Quality
Food and Dining
The food was excellent. The dining room was better than the buffet. We had open seating which was nice because we went when we were ready to go. We could eat with different people each night or by ourselves if that is what we wanted.
Cabin / Stateroom
The most comfortable bed on a cruise ever! The robes to borrow during the trip are a very nice touch. The cabin was spacious (how often do you hear that of a cabin?).
Service and Staff
We have been on many cruises, but the staff and crew of this ship and genuinely happy employees and it shows.
