Review summary

Wonder of the Seas was our first cruise as a family with young children (9 & 6). We were nervous not having been on a ship as large, or the kids never having cruised at all. Those nervous dissipated quickly. This cruise exceeded our expectations in everyway and we had the most wonderful vacation making memories to last a lifetime. There was always something to do to please each of use, plenty of time to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery and lots of good food and drinks for all. We can't wait to book our next cruise, all we have to decide is where we want to go!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The waiters made our experience. They were super personable, went out of their way to make our children feel included and taken care of for their needs. The food was always hot and they made sure we got what we ordered. They also made sure we knew we could order more or for the kids from the main menu if they didn't like the kids menu. They were exceptional waitstaff.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There was so much to do we were never bored! The pools were so fun. The kids loved the waterslides and splash pad area. The waiters were timely with circling around asking if we wanted more drinks! We played so much mini-golf, both during the day and at night- it was easy to find equipment and have a fun 9 holes. Family ping pong tournament was had or just play time. The basketball court was a hit. Of course the flow rider, boogie-boarding couldn't be passed up. Our kids hit up the Adventure Ocean club several times and had a blast.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The aqua theater show- InTENse was amazing, we went and saw it twice. My kids were mesmerized. The live music all over the ship was wonderful at all the venues and a good variety on the style and choice of music so it never felt old or boring.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
They visited the Adventure Ocean club, ages 6-12 several times. The only mild complaint they had was when it was crowded and the other kids didn't want to share (like taking turns on the video games.) But that wasn't so much of a problem that it stopped them from going back to another session.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was friendly, seemed to be in a good mood and Nice. Our room steward was great with towel animals, converting the couch into twin beds and back each day. Every bartender and wait staff we had was really excellent.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Despite being the largest cruise ship, the design layout made it feel super accessible to move around the ship easily, as compared to older ships we have been on. The 5 floor promenade and 8 level central park really give the ship an open air feeling. The ship felt very modern, clean and new.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The room was average for a balcony room. It was a very narrow room. The main queen size bed was a the front of room closest to the door and only left about 1 1/2-2 feet between the end to the wall, making a very narrow lane for walking around. In a cabin for 4 people, this was tight and awkward for moving around. Also when the couch was made into the trundle bed (two side by side twin beds), you could not walk past the beds (no room on the floor) to get to the balcony doors to go outside due to the closeness to the desk/dresser without actually walking on one of the beds. The room worked OK b/c of the young age of our kids, but would be a challenge if you spent any length of time in your cabin or the kids were in double digits or older. Unless you planned on it or were expecting it, it was a small balcony room.
