Review summary

We really enjoyed cruising on the Wonder of the Seas and highly recommend!!

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Parking to get in was a nightmare. Directing traffic coming different ways was the problem. Hopefully they fix this but we were backed up at the street across from entrance for over 45 minutes. Embarkation once on ship was a breeze. We reserved an early check in time and had no lines walking straight in. Booking restaurants for the week was a challenge and confusing as started with guest service line then directed to a person or line that wasn’t there. However a staff member finally helped us by calling restaurants and booking.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We had unlimited dining and ate at all the specialty restaurants and 2 days at MDR, the Windjammer for breakfast, and El loco Fresh, Park Cafe, Sorrentos, Promenade, and room Service. Food was top notch and excellent at Chops, 150 Central Park, Hooked and Izumi and even Wonderland dishes were weirdly interesting and tasty. Mason Jar was a great sweet brunch and our server X was clearly an experienced professional whose company we enjoyed. The greeter lady who helped us with our reservation was friendly and efficient was well. Wish Giovanni’s were Giovanni’s Table instead. Disappointed in some of Giovanni’s dishes. Desserts there were excellent however and servers as well. Service was excellent overall and we gladly tipped our servers additional although gratuity was already included in our package. The fact that service was excellent even though they know gratuities were prepaid says a lot.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Lots of activities are offered but we only did a few for lack of time. Covered Solarium was nice but surprisingly still hot when I thought it would be cooler. Ceiling fans would be nice. Wish we’d tried the pool and mini golf. Sorry but one of comedians wasn’t very funny. I left halfway and missed 2nd. Maybe he had an off night. Skipped bingo bc it was offered in a much smaller venue instead of theater etc.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Aquatheater show was out of this world as was the ice spectacular. The music and choreography was amazing- originality and difficulty quite obvious. We’ve seen a lot of shows on RC cruises as well as others and they were the best so far! We saw Voices and that was great out of the box entertainment with talented singers! My husband who is not easily won over commented on it as Broadway level entertainment. Loved all 3! We were either too tired or busy and unfortunately missed the other 2 shows but I expect they’d be at same caliber.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
We had a teen who took part. He enjoyed himself however he commented there were not as many activities as our last Oasis cruise. He liked the staff and teen area but gatherings and activities were lacking.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Always top notch. Our stateroom attendant took care of our requests and our room was always cleaned. Our balcony door had some air coming in and technicians took care of it immediately. Windjammer staff were always hardworking. All our waiters/waitresses were excellent even the ones you could tell were new/still learning. They worked hard and were sincere and friendly which has to be difficult doing this work nonstop both day and night. Sure there’s always 1 or 2 that come across as grumpy or less patient but that’s to be expected and we didn’t encounter any rudeness. The reason we cruise with Royal Caribbean IS because of the excellent service and staff who seem sincerely nice.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Love Central Park beautiful especially at night. The bathroom and room were very modern. Elevators were fast and always available. You never felt crowded -quite the opposite -walking on ship. The TV programs gave more variety BUT there were NO Christmas movies like they had on a previous December cruise which we really enjoyed and were looking forward to seeing. Also no Christmas activities for the kids both of which we had on our previous cruise on Oasis. PLEASE BRING THEM BACK. Like cookie decorating never even saw a Santa.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Wonderful cabin. Huge balcony. Excellent Stateroom attendant. Need more hooks and no wall electrical plug to put in a wallflower. The pull out bed was terrific. Beds and pillows were super comfortable!

Ship tip

Prepay for dining and beverage packages early

Ports of call

Falmouth, Jamaica

5 out of 5
Enjoyed Ochos Rios and the Blue Hole excursion! Jumping into waterfalls is a once in lifetime experience. We booked this excursion outside of RC because we wanted a private driver service and to get there early and make stops for local cuisine and shipping. We had our own AC van and felt very safe with our driver and service Marvyn’s Paradise.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
Was a nice beach break but the food was not authentic jerk chicken and beans rice were flavorless. I know it’s to accommodate everyone but it really was plain roasted chicken.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

I forgot to add that our family loved the Laser tag and the Escape room which was actually a challenging puzzle room. Recommend both!
