Review summary

I enjoyed my Birthday cruise. I loved the more intimate atmosphere of this smaller cruise. All excursions were small groups, which was appreciated. Attention to detail sets this cruise apart from many others. Good food, Great drinks, Good weather, Great staff, Beautiful ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Main dining room always pleasant atmosphere and delicious meals. Enjoyed eating at CANDLES the most! The casual outdoor dining with freshly grilled items was great. Stela was very intimate with a French twist. As I have a food allergy, my food choices were often modified slightly. The chef never had an issue with this. The Maitre d was always looking out for me and made sure my allergy concerns were always met. The BBQ event on the top deck takes place once each week. This event was one of the highlights of the cruise. The whole roasted pigs were a huge hit!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I did not attend many of the evening shows as they started at 9:30 pm or later. However, I did stay up the evening of the crew show to show support for the wonderfully talented staff of the ship. The show was very entertaining. The Beach BBQ was a very nice event! A ton of work for the staff, but, it was so well organized and food was great.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward was excellent. He learned our preferences very quickly and always knew our schedule for servicing the room. The wait staff were all very professional, could answer questions about the food items and were extremely friendly. Had diner with the captain one evening and found him quite personable. He was always around the ship and made sure he was involved in all aspects of the cruise. The staff in the Yacht Club made the very best Cappuccino, the bar tender in the Lounge made amazing after dinner drinks, the bar tender in the Compass Rose was a wizard with mixed drinks. Her Margaritas, Coco Locos, and Mai Tais were very tasty and refreshing while enjoying the ambiance in the aft of the ship.

Ship Quality

I was shocked at how much storage was available in the cabins! The cabins were extremely well laid out. For the small footprint, we never felt cramped. Beds were very comfy and under bed storage could easily fit 2 or 3 extra large suitcases. We also appreciated all the little shelves that were places throughout the cabin. The shelves made it so easy to stay organized.

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin was always spotless. Our attendant was very detailed oriented. he noticed little issue and had them fixed before we even knew there was an issue. Very comfortable. Size was never an issue.

Ship tip

If you are prone to sea sickness, you might prefer not to stay on the first floor. The cabin portholes were at water level. We enjoyed seeing the waves splash against our porthole windows, but other may not enjoy this. Plus you do hear the water sloshing against the sides of the ship.

Ports of call

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

We made our own arrangements to arrive 3 days before the cruise. The arrival at the airport was horrendous. It took 4 hours from the time we landed till we reached our hotel. Granted, the airport is undergoing extreme renovations, but allowing 5 flights to land with only one luggage carousel was ridiculous chaos. I would recommend everyone to plan extra time for arrival.

Charlestown, Nevis

I am a snorkeler and this area is not that great to snorkle

Roseau, Dominica

We chose the Indian River rowboat excursion. This excursion was described as similar to the Amazon. This was definitely NOT like the Amazon, however, it was still interesting,

Pigeon Island, St. Lucia

Our excursion was very nice. This was a very small sailboat with a maximum of 8 people. Nice day of snorkeling and sailing.

Not very good snorkeling

We ended up i St Johns, Antigua instead because of the rough seas. Nice snorkel options. Sting Ray City was a bit crowded, but, very well organized and a good excursion.

We were quite surprised at how early we had to be off the ship. We were taken to the airport with about 5 hours to kill.
