Review summary

I had been wanting to take this cruise for many years and was extremely disappointed that a week before sailing one of the ports was cancelled - Semarang (one of the main reasons we took this cruise. I would have cancelled this cruise if we were not already in Singapore. Lombok was added at the last moment and it caused a shortage of time in several of the ports, so activities in the ports had to be reduced.

Embarkation

Embarkation went smoothly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We had breakfast and lunch at the Lido buffet - it was always very good. Service was great. we had lunch in the Main dining room once, and service was off and the presentation of food was very mediocre. Dinner in the main dining room was always very good. service was excellent. As for drinks - the coffee was not drinkable some days. and there was only one place on board to buy espresso coffees.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Thermal spa was very small and the saunas were not working all the time. The 'relaxation' area of the spa was usually very noisy. So after 2 tries - stopped going.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Lincoln Center Stage - EXCELLENT every day they played. Main stage - was ok. Have seen all the dance shows before. The comedian was just ok.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service over all was excellent. The cabin stewards could not do enough to make sure that our cruise was wonderful. ALL the staff in the Lido area was great. The dinner main dining room staff was outstanding.

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin was very clean. Plenty of storage space. THe balcony was very nice.

Ship tip

Check to see 'if possible' if there are any engine issues. Also if possible find out who the officers are.

Ports of call

Singapore

5 out of 5
Great city to visit before or after the cruise. The cruise terminal was in a great location. Very easy access to public transportation (bus and MRT).

Tanjung Priok (Jakarta), Indonesia

4 out of 5
extremely busy city. Traffic was horrific to get out of the port. Give yourself plenty of time to get back to port. The city was very interesting. Food was great.

Probolinggo, East Java, Indonesia

3 out of 5
The Westerdam Officer in charge of Guest Services did not handle the tender allocation well at all. It was extremely stressful trying to get off the ship to join my independent excursion. I still wonder why Probolinggo was a port on this cruise.

Komodo Island, Indonesia

4 out of 5
Interesting. The tender allocation was handled much better at this port. We did an independent excursion. Saw 6 komodo dragons. Did the short walk and went back to the ship before luch.

Benoa, Bali, Indonesia

5 out of 5
Great port of call. So much to see and do. We took an independent excursion to visit the Ubud area and it was beautiful. THere was enough time in this port to explore the area.

Lembar, Lombok, Indonesia

3 out of 5
Interesting island. Got to see lots of rice terraces. Visited a beach and had a nice lunch. Really not that much to do and see here.

Celukan Bawang, Bali, Indonesia

5 out of 5
Took a ship shore excursion to the National park and snorkeling. The park and the waters were absolutely beautiful. It also included lunch at a resort and we were able to use the facilities at the resort.

Surabaya, Java, Indonesia

4 out of 5
Not too much to see here. Saw the highlights of the city within a few hours and had a very nice lunch.

Disembarkation

There were no issues with getting off the ship. We were in a taxi to the airport with 15 minutes of walking off the ship and getting our luggage.
