Voyager of the Seas

5 Night Western Caribbean (Galveston Roundtrip)

Sail date: October 21, 2023

Ship: Voyager of the Seas

Cabin number: 9237

Review summary

Galveston is too far from Fla, too much extraneous travel to get there. This was a trial run since I had to be in San Antonio for something else. Would not go to Galveston again unless it was connected to another function. Voyager is clean, friendly, smaller and I did like that. Always check your daily expenditures, and if you decide to change your back-up credit card, check that balance for accuracy before making the switch. It is hard to correct ship generated errors after the fact.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was unexceptional, too many cut backs - not much imagination. Even specialty dinning is pretty blah.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Casino, walking the decks, wonder Diamon Club - private, quiet, lovely. Too mature for the more vigorous activities. Music and dancing, shows.

Entertainment

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
They try hard, but it is showing its age and daily wear.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Adequate for one person, better once beds were separated. Clean, quiet, private.

Ship tip

Be prepared to wait for rooms to open (usually around 2pm); and in general just be prepared to wait to get things done the first day.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

4 out of 5
It is big enough that they should allow people into the terminal before 10am when the heat is extreme.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

3 out of 5
Nothing new from previous visits. Port call is too short 4 hours to do anything exciting.

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
Getting very crowded and schlockier than before.

Sounds like a good cruise.

Appreciate your feedback. Being from Colorado, ALL cruise embarkation ports are far away.

I would travel to any port to get on a cruise. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Okay, but why would anyone drive for hours from the number 1,2, and 3 provider of cruises to go to #4?

We just left out of Galveston. We were onboard at 10:45am, in our room by 1pm. Galveston is a nice small port!
