Wish I had not spent my money on this cruise. The ports were lackluster, the ship was old, and it just didn't seem to be as advertised. When its cold outside, there is no place for people to go and hang out, so the inside areas are over crowded. This cruise was definitely for the older crowd, so expect long lines, lots of people needing assistance, etc. I'll stick with warm weather cruises next time and will try a line other than Royal Caribbean. We have been on RC for the past 15 years, and it's just stale. Needs some pick up in the activities and entertainment. They are still doing the same 80's Disco party they have been putting on for years. Come on!
Embarkation
2 out of 5
The port did not honor any time periods for embarkation. We arrived at our time, to find that there was an enormous line, and people who had times later than us were already lined up to embark. It took quite a while to stand ourside in the line. Once inside, Royal Caribbean had a very fast boarding process, but outside was terrible. Mass confusion all around.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Main dining room food was just OK, not great. People were dressed very casually. Service was good, not great. Buffets were super crowded ALL the time, but breakfast was the worst. Too many people, not enough space to eat. They ran out of dishes one morning. All of the beverage stations were not open in the buffet, so again lines to even get a cup of coffee. We did not eat in a specialty restaurant.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Due to the time of year, the outdoor activities were limited. It rained a lot, so that may have been an issue with the things available to do. Though pools were heated, it was just too cool to take advantage of them.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Main shows in the evening were good. The other entertainment on the ship was just so/so. Royal Caribbean has not changed their format in many years, so it seemed stale and lot of same old same old.
Children's Programs
No kids
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
This particular ship, Voyager of the Seas is showing age, but the staff does their best and keeps everything very clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Cabin was clean and what we expected. Nothing out of the ordinary. Ship is old, so balcony was shaped strangely, and had limited visibility, not like the newer ships.
Ship tip
I would not sail on this particular ship. It's showing age, and if there are no outdoor activities available, as on a caribben voyage, there is little room for indoor. Too small indoor space for the size of the passengers when weather is cold and rainy.
We got in 2 days early, and very happy we did. It's a great city to explore. Easy to get around. Walking the freedom trail was fun. Ubers are easy and affordable.
This is a terrible port. Super small, basically one street and a small port area with souvenir shops. I would not go here or recommend it. Excursions looked either too long (7 hours), or the shorter ones looked lame.
Bad weather did not allow us to visit this port. It was the only port I was interested in really going to and seeing Acadia National Park. Very disappointing.
