Review summary

Overall we had a great time and won't hesitate to cruise with Royal Caribbean again. We had friends with us who were cruising for the first time and they loved it.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We were on the ship within 15 minutes of arriving at the port!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Chops was outstanding. We dined there 4 times and were amazed by the quality of the food and the service. Definitely the best restaurant on the ship.

Windjammer Marketplace

5 out of 5

I am a fussy eater and I had no problem finding something to eat in the Windjammer. We dined there everyday for breakfast and most days for lunch, as well as twice for dinner. The food was very fresh, salads were great. There were plenty of options. The different themes at dinner were a great idea.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Flow rider was excellent. Great fun for people of all ages. The staff were very patient and encouraging.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The singers, bands and DJ were all very good. We never managed to get to see a show.

Children's Programs

No children were travelling with us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room attendant Jamie was fantastic. Our room was always spotless, nothing was too much trouble. Ferdinand at Chops and Pralash at Giovanni's table were the standout waiters on the ship. Both were helpful and entertaining. Mohammed at the Casino bar was a terrific barman. His cocktails were outstanding. Austinn at the pool bar was constantly on the go and quick to fulfill orders. David in the Tavern was a really nice guy who was very passionate about his job.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The promenade was always sparkling. The ship is very easy to navigate, the layout is great.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a junior suite and we couldn't believe the amount of storage. The walk in wardrobe was wonderful. The bed was really comfortable. Great water pressure in the shower which we weren't expecting.

Ship tip

Explore the ship on the first day so you don't miss anything. There are some great venues on-board. If you can afford it, visit Chops at least once. It was truly wonderful. Also note that the waiters there went out of their way if you were celebrating a birthday or anniversary (we weren't but they would sing and bring candles). Very nice touch to make someone feel special on their important day.

Ports of call

Sydney, Australia

4 out of 5
We have been to Sydney many times. Just wandered around on our own.

Noumea, New Caledonia

5 out of 5
We took the ship tour to Amedee Island. We were the first group to leave the ship and the last to get back on. Great excursion, highly recommend it.

Mystery Island, Vanuatu

4 out of 5
Beautiful island. Not a lot to do though. Just swimming/snorkeling and some market stalls. Not much shade, make sure you get off the boat early and enjoy the island before it gets too hot.

Port Vila, Efate, Vanuatu

4 out of 5
We did an excursion through a private operator. We had a great driver and enjoyed being shown around by him but were disappointed in the turtle sanctuary. I understand the locals have their own culture and way of doing things but "sanctuary" isn't a good term. Turtle prison would be more appropriate.

Mare Isle, Loyalty Islands, New Caledonia Did not visit port

Bad storms made it unsafe.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We were off the ship and through customs in ten minutes. Incredibly easy disembarking process. Luggage was easy to find.

Lovely to read such positive notes. It will be my first time ever. Did you have any alcohol on the ship and was it pricey? I'm wondering if it's worth getting the package. I won't drink more than 3-4 glasses a day (wine, beer or maybe a glass of cocktail)
