Voyager of the Seas

6 Night Mediterranean (Barcelona To Venice)

Sail date: May 15, 2011

Ship: Voyager of the Seas

Cabin type: Balcony

Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Reviewed: 13 years ago

Review summary

the ship's appearance was above average; the ports of call were just ok but remote to where most people wanted to go--like Rome, more than a two hour ride once you were docked. Also the ship's main thrust was for you to purchase additional excursions, items, and products that became a real nuisance.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
compared to other ships I've been on this was only mediocre--the prime rib one night was fatty and definitely an inferior piece of meat; the "breaded" turkey was more like mystery meat since you would never know if it was turkey, chicken or veal--they also didn't have a traditional lobster night

Entertainment

3 out of 5
if training and scripting your own entertainers was "entertainment" then this was just OK--no name stars or comedy acts--

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
the customer "service" desk was a joke--you waited a very long time everytime you visited and they even ran out of Euros at one time

Ports of call

Toulon, France

3 out of 5
waste of time

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

3 out of 5
we stayed on ship because we had seen most of the sites at this port of call more than once and from the talk at our dining table the lines were unreal because there were numerous ships in port at the same time

Messina, Sicily

3 out of 5
we almost missed the famous clock in the square and had it not been for complaints by numerous passengers to get there in time we would have but the shipped accommodated us--and it was worth it
Don't Miss: the clock in the square--otherwise it was just your mundane Italian city

Pros: the room was the best feature

Cons: they charge extra for everything, including cappocino in the formal dining room
