The second night, a troubled man jumped overboard. It was very sad. We looked for him for six hours and then the Coast Guard came. He was with his wife and kids on the cruise. The family will be forever changed. Always a sad situation, but especially at Christmas.
Embarkation

From car to ship in 10 minutes! Wonderful!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
While the service was excellent, the food left a lot to be desired. Not especially flavorful and portions were incredibly small. I know it’s possible to get more, but we don’t want to have to order double everything. Three shrimp for a shrimp cocktail.
Drinks were good. Shoutout to Mark at the Enchanted lounge and Rossi in the dining room.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The gym was good and well equipped. The Solarium was nice except their no one under 18 policy was not enforced. There should be someplace where adults can relax.
Casino Royale
2 out of 5
The casino is well run, but the smoking filled the whole casino making it difficult to stay very long. Non-gamblers came and sat just to smoke.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Saw two shows with the ships singers and dancers. They were good and hard working. Don’t think they were able to book high caliber acts as most people wanted to be home for Christmas.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
As always, the service was always of the highest quality and everyone always had a smile on their face.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Slight adjustments after cruising on the Grandeur and Enchantment but didn’t take long to get our bearings. Always clean and well maintained for an older ship.
Cabin / Stateroom

Typical oceanview cabin. First couple nights loud creaking type sounds woke us up. Figured it was coming from top of the closet wall. Stuck some papers in it and problem solved!
Ship tip
My best advice would be to book when school is in session. There were 500 kids on our ship which in itself is not a problem. But most of the parents didn’t keep an eye on them. Kids running down the hallways at all hours. Playing on the elevator so older people couldn’t use them. All the hot tubs were full of kids so no one else could use them.
Too bad about the troubled passenger. A cop killed his entire family over the holidays and then committed suicide. The holidays can be tough for some folks, but family, friends and neighbors should be on high alert with depressed people.
Good you had an otherwise good trip minus the kids. The only way I would go cruising again around the holidays is there's no kids allowed or very few. Like viking cruises
Yes. Those kids running around and no one taking responsibility is a huge problem.
I a very sorry for the family of the person who went overboard. I cannot imagine the heartbreak
I have nothing against kids but IMO they do not belong on a cruise. We have experienced bad behavior, temper tantrums , parents not watching them and yes taking over the hot tubs.
