Review summary

IMO the Legend of the Seas is the best maintained of the Vision class ships that sail out of Baltimore. It has the steam room/sauna that the Enchantment lacked plus Giovanni's and Izumi which the Enchantment also did not. However, Izumi is on deck 12 with no elevator access which is ridiculous since it limits anyone with a mobility issue (as was my wife's case on the cruise.) For new cruisers you will really enjoy it. For long time cruisers like us it's nice to get away but a step down from what it used to be.

Embarkation

Really slow dropping off luggage. Been on many cruises out of Baltimore and normally this goes really fast, This time it took 30 minutes from the time we arrived at port. Once inside terminal was into ship within 15 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
When I first saw the RCCL new menus I wasn't impressed. Now that I have experience with them even less so. Portion sizes and offerings have really been cut for all meals in dinning room. Quality of food was good. Buffet offerings for lunch not much variety from day to day. Lunch at Chops on embarkation day was good as well as dinner at Giovanni's. It was my wife's favorite meal of the cruise.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Plenty of activities day and evening for those that want to join in.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
If you have cruised out of Baltimore in the past you have seen the ship's singers/dancers shows. About time they did something new. Professional performers were OK.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Super friendly crew. Our room service was excellent. Dinning room wait staff was OK but not as good as past cruises.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship is excellently maintained for its age. All areas are clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Couldn't ask for anything larger. The bathroom was larger than the ones in our house. Most closet and draw space than we have ever had. Cabin steward kept it spotless.

Ship tip

If you are looking for a lot of the activities that are offered on the newer/larger ships the ships out of Baltimore are not for you. If you just enjoy cruising then they are fine.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland Did not visit port

Embarkation. We live here.

Port Canaveral, Florida Did not visit port

Have been there in the past plus my wife had broken her foot and was physically limited.

Miami, Florida Did not visit port

Been to Miami on numerous occasions. The excursion we booked was cancelled and the others we either had done previously or were to physically demanding on my wife.

Nassau, Bahamas Did not visit port

Been there, done that.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

3 out of 5
Had to cancel excursion due to wife's broken foot. Did get off the ship to do some shopping for obligatory tee shirts. Very convenient. Right off the ship.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
I always choose the last disembarkation time. Gives us time to eat breakfast. Was off ship at 9am and was home before 9:45.

Thank you for the review. I’ll be taking a cruise aboard Vision in 2025. My second Royal cruise. I started with Oasis so my expectations will be managed…

Interesting, no public elevator. Wonder if you asked if they would take up the service elevator?
