Review summary

This was our first trip with Royal Caribbean. It was planned to evaluate that line. As this ship was older and small, I feel it was not a fair test of the overall cruise line. The food and service were excellent but there was not much to do on the ship. It did not measure up to our experiences on other lines but we met some lovely people.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The fastest, smoothest we've ever had.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Good variety and well positioned for easy access without crowding.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
The "hot tub" was cooler than my normal bathwater. It was nice that they had lifeguards at each pool.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Very little variety offered. The comedian was the best show. Too many trivia games, too little in the main theater.

Children's Programs

No children with us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent service from all areas and all personnel! Everyone was helpful and friendly.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The cleanliness was excellent and there were always personnel cleaning and painting.

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
Very small cabin but mostly very poorly located. At night we were kept awake clearly hearing scraping of chairs above us as well as strong drum and rhythm beats from the groups performing in the central lounge. The bed was comfotable and the room was clean.

Ship tip

It's a small ship. I would suggest choosing a room less centrally located or in the upper decks.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

4 out of 5
We live here.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Enjoyed shopping for jewelry.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
Small shopping area but very friendly and the boardwalk with views of the dolphins was very nice.

George Town, Grand Cayman

3 out of 5
Not much to do in port but enjoyed the shops and walking about.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very streamlined and efficient.

Royal is really about the mega ships these days. I would only recommend small Royals for Cuba Oasis class is best thing floating
