Vision of the Seas

7 Night Western Caribbean (New Orleans Roundtrip)

Sail date: February 16, 2019

Ship: Vision of the Seas

Traveled as: Family (older children)

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Review summary

This ship had the best staff that we ever met and we have been on many cruise ships. It may not have the Bling the newer ships have, but it has a great group on board.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
the main dinning room food was just fair. the Italian Speciality Restaurant was OK but not great. The Chops Speciality Restaurant was great. We ended up going 3 times!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We used the pools and my daughter did the Rock Climbing wall and she said it was fun.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Shows were good except for the comedian - Evie, he was great and gave us lots of laughs.

Children's Programs

Did not use them

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The Vision of the Seas is a small ship but has the friendliest staff that we had ever cruised with, Our room steward Darwin was great and took great care of us. We have been on a lot of other cruises and we got the best service on this ship.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Layout was standard for most cruise ships, easy to get around, Very clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a inside room, It was good size and had lots of storage and closet space. It was clean, my wife thought the bed was hard.

Ship tip

Go to Chops for one dinner, you will not be disappointed.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

Came in two days early to take tours, Used Tours By Isabell, They were great, took the city tour and the Plantation/Oak Alley tour. Both I would recommend if you want a good overall understanding of New Orleans, we want to come back to see more and the food is great in this city.

Cozumel, Mexico Did not visit port

Stayed on the ship

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

Went to the shops near the pier and had a good time, looking and buying stuff.

George Town, Grand Cayman

Went on the Amphibious Buss Tour, Toured the downtown and the drove into the harbor and went over a couple of shipwrecks. Then feed the local fish bread that they gave you. Then shopped in town and returned to the boat.

Disembarkation

Good, Very fast!
