Review summary

Viking is a premier cruise line. The staff and the ship were impressive as expected. The water levels and weather made the experience less enjoyable than a prior Viking river cruise on a different river. The success of these cruises has caused a very large number of ships from a number of lines, which translates to crowding at the docks and in the small old cities. As long as the possibility of the frequent and long coach rides is expected, these cruises are great.

Unfortunately, the river water levels did not permit the ship to go to Budapest. This required a wait for a 90 minute coach ride. Upon arrival, there was not clear direction as to how to proceed to our specific ship. There were several tied together.

very clean and well maintained. A little smaller than expected.

Ship tip

Pay attention when booking as the river can easily be too low or too high and the result will be changes to itineraries and lots of coach travel.

Regensburg was a lovely city. Again the ship could not get there so there was another 90 minute coach ride which limited options
