A very memorable cruise for us, and it really helped us to understand better the history and lives in these Asian countries, especially Indonesia. Viking made the journey even better with their outstanding service, and beautiful ship.

Ship Quality

The layout and design was well-thought-out and impressive. We loved sitting at the little tables on the third deck just outside our stateroom, which was open to the Atrium below, and listening to the beautiful music played live. Everything was always kept spotless. We appreciated the self-laundry room available on each deck.

Ship tip
Small enough(only about 900 passengers), so no crowds, and very pleasant atmosphere, and attention to details. Focus is on the destinations, so very informative and educational.
Amazing architecture, beautiful temples, and such dedication to their royal family. We took te included excursion, and had a wonderful, informative tour guide on our bus.
Fascinating to see how they live, and our tour guide shared a lot of personal stories, helping us to understand daily life, but could have provided more relevant information about his city.
Excellent because we were able to visit Bandung on our own, by using Whoosh, the high-speed rail, from Jakarta, a half-hour ride each way, and saw the beautiful country-side along the way, as well as my birthplace. Jakarta itself was very congested with traffic, but has a lot of history from Dutch Colonial times. The Wayang Puppet Museum was interesting to see as well as the performance, but a bit rushed(no chance to buy some puppet mementos).
We were impressed what the previous mayor, a woman, had accomplished in the last 15 years, beautifying the city and improving it in so many ways. There was a definite pride felt coming from the tour guide.
Loved the walk through a typical village street, where the residents had gone out of their way to make us feel welcome, and showing us their arts and crafts as they worked on them(batik cloth, wood carving, rice sorting, etc.). The tour guide showed real pride in his city, and also shared a lot of appreciation for what the Dutch colonists had done and provided for them. It was nice to hear that acknowledged.
A place of contrasts, like the other ports we visited: poverty, wealth, natural beauty, delightful beaches, beautiful resorts next to street vendors, etc.
So smooth, and we were delighted to be brought to a resort hotel to relax, enjoy light food and refreshments, until it was time to go to the airport. That was much nicer than spending hours and hours waiting at the airport for our late afternoon flight.
