Get there a day or two ahead of the embarkation. It will help you make the most of your time on the ship. We arrived the day of the trip departure and it was hectic and we needed more time to adjust.

You have to take alot of bus rides because generally the ship keeps moving down the river so if you get off at a port you have to take a bus to catch up to it. Also many of the included excursions end in the town so you have to navigate your own way back to the ship. Not pleasant and a bit unsettling if you're traveling alone.

Don’t over pack and bring an extra small bag for souvenirs. You can pay to have whatever laundry done throughout your trip. The do it in one day.

Up on the top deck, it can be windy and cold. I went in November so it was cold.
