We really enjoyed almost every minute except for one hour of touring in the rain, was only supposed to drizzle. Took more pictures than any other vacation

So this was our first Viking river cruise, and we loved it. It's probably also our last Viking river cruise, at least for awhile. How can it be both? First of all, we were treated like royalty. The service was great. The food was amazing. Our cabin was very nice. And the scenery was superb. So what was not to like? Well, for one, we were, at 57, some of the youngest on the ship. This is not, in and of itself, and problem, except that we are also quite a bit more active than most of our fellow cruisers. We are looking for activities and experiences, not just walking around yet another German village on a casual stroll, seeing their architecture, etc. We want to DO things--let's walk up to that castle; let's ride a bike to the next town; let's climb the bell tower of the church; let's see twice as much in the same amount of time. We can sit around and drink coffee or go shopping at home--that's not our thing. So much of the "excursion" experience seemed to be geared toward the very gentle and pedestrian rather than the active and immersive.

An unforgettable experience! I have made several comments above about tours and ports, as well as the personnel and service. I want to emphasize how impressed I was with Viking staff. My deepest appreciation goes to our Program Director, Radim Wajshajtl for all he did to make sure everything run smoothly and to help solve the many problems passengers had. He was patient, efficient, skillful and always friendly. Viking is lucky to have him!!!

The itinerary was good, but the sights seemed to repeat themselves. We met many really nice people and befriended some of them. The ship was very nice and very clean. For the most part the staff was good although the program director was NOT very organized, especially on our tours. It seemed that we had long waiting periods that could have been filled with other activities.

Our cruise could not have been better. The excursions were tops.. The food was amazing and the cruise employees could not have been better. We totally enjoyed the entire trip.  

We had a wonderful time on this cruise. The ports were beautiful and the service on the ship was excellent.  All the excursions were wonderful and we enjoyed both the included and the optional ones. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and super friendly.This is my second Viking cruise and I am considering booking for a third one with Viking.

The only issue I had was the docking of the ship changed from a port close to Amsterdam Central Station to a port far away from the City Center. Viking ran shuttle buses to take guests into town but it was still quite inconvenient.

My first river cruise and it will not be the last. From the moment we booked till we got on the plane to come home we were taken great care of. Picking is a class act company and has customer service down .they are good it was trip to !ale us happy

I liked the way they took such good care of us, seemed to always be there to help.

Everything was first cabin, rooms, food, and service!

They should have a small coin op laundry for the guests that want to do their own!

We truly loved the ports visited and the inclusive tours at each.  The ship was changed from the Alsvin to the Ingvi, a sister ship that was essentially the same.   The crew was very efficient and very accommodating in all aspects.  We would highly recommend this trip to  anyone!

We were really looking forward to this cruise untill we got on board and were not given the information that would have been helpful to understand what was really going on. The water levels were low on the river which is no ones fault, but everytime we asked how it was going to work it was a spin on that they didn't really know if it was or wasn't going to happen (move from one boat to another) It was obvious when we saw the river that it was unpassable, but still nothing, like we didn't deserve to know the plan, untill the night before.We spent a lot of time on buses which was overall exhausting. and half the time the airconditioning didn't work, in 90 + degrees it is very uncomfortable. This should have been a trip of a lifetime and we have been on 3 other cruises, but it was anything but, it will definetly be our last river cruise but will still go in ocean cruises as they are much more organized. The boat was clean and the wait staff very accomodating, management was the problem. We spent too much time parked along recycling or garbage dumps to be considered luxurious.
