Review summary
Enjoyed the cruise, been on Ventura before and she's a nice ship, their was a lot of maintenance going on we were warned of some before we sailed, a lot of painting especially on the promenade deck with a strong smell of paint. The cruise itself was good sorry we missed out on Lanzarote. We do prefer the smaller ships Aurora and Arcadia are the only ones now. The sea days were good went to talks, watched films, relaxed on the prom deck reading a very enjoyable cruise.Embarkation
Traveled by coach to Southampton, no problems checking in onboard within 20 mins.

Dining rooms very good service excellent but portions smaller, didn't use specialty restaurants
, buffets ok .
Onboard Activities
Plenty of activities as seniors we are happy to walk the prom deck and sit on it.
Entertainment
Great shows.
Service and Staff
All the crew, cabin steward, dining room, reception, security, even the maintenance crew were very friendly and helpful.
Ship Quality
Everywhere we used was fine.
Cabin / Stateroom
Size was fine, set up as single beds which we find gives us more room, comfort was good could have done with another chair. Cleanliness fine the steward was excellent. My only, complaint the TV shelf overhangs where the kettle and the fridge are, getting up up from using the fridge I banged my head on the underside of the shelf, a design fault.
Ports of call
No tour so we used the "Hop on Hop off" bus, took us around Las Palmas city didn't get off until the old town where we went in the cathedral and sat in the square watching the children play. Found a nice cafe for lunch, then the bus back to the ship.

Didn't do excursion walked into town, enjoyed wandering around the side streets, visited the church and sat in a cafe people watching.
Caught the free shuttle bus from the ship, had a lovely walk through the side streets, several squares with old trams running through. Some great buildings loved the architecture, again found a cafe on a corner with free wi-fi and plenty of people watching. Loved Lisbon
We went on a ship tour to the Farmers Market and Botanical gardens, very good excellent guide.
Left the ship 10:30am a nice stroll into Santa Cruz lovely tree lined streets with shops and cafes a pleasant morning then back onboard for lunch.
