Review summary

A relatively good cruise however there were too many families on board for our liking, the pool felt a tad crowded and loud. We don’t normally go for the family ships (except Oceana) with P&O due to this. Some families were a tad ghastly but you can avoid them easily.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Relatively slow.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was good however it failed to meet our standards on a couple of occasions due to high demand in the MDR.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We took part in a few activities including a Snowball Jackpot Bingo which was very good. There were quite a few family activities which aren’t a welcomed part of the daily programme to me.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Generally the entertainment was good but not great. The headliners were of a high standard however some of the lounge singers were borderline dreadful, they were amusing for the wrong reasons.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. I couldn’t fault them whatsoever.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The Ventura is a nice ship with an element of luxury and it is clean however I think that Ventura needs just a small refurb (eg carpets and upholstery)

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Superior Deluxe Balcony. The cabin was spacious and comfortable. Be warned that the balcony is overlooked, it isn’t too bothersome.

Rob87, you just seem to attack those who don’t appreciate the loud families who flout dress codes and other rules. Trust me you’ll understand later in life, being a bit older I don’t want to share my cruise with loud families, I want to relax in peace. They should limit the number of families on board even further.

Rob87, did I ever mention the elderly. No. The families on board should respect the rules and the dress code. They think they can do what they want when they want, If they are nothing more than common louts then they shouldn’t be allowed to board any vessel.

Any cruise can be "family" if it's during off-school time. We almost never cruise during school holidays but two times we did made me think that the problem is not children but their parents. Some of them simply let the kids run wild without any control and consideration for the rest of the passengers and the crew.
