Not sure we’d go with P&O again.....for us it missed the mark in a lot of areas compared to the cruises we’ve been on before but if the itinerary suited who knows!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Really efficient but we had already checked in on line
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The menus were good other than the breakfast menu (comparing to other cruise lines) but found there was inflexibility if you wanted to mix or swap. Nothing seemed hot for the first few days but that definitely improved. Food was of a good quality. Never use the buffets.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The range of activities seemed comprehensive
Entertainment
4 out of 5
In general the standard was very good, there’s always one that isn’t/not you your taste! But there were no West End shows.
Children's Programs
No children
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
We eventually found a table in the Saffron restaurant with two lovely waiters, who we couldn’t fault and sat at this table for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were freedom diners. Other than these two fantastic waiters, we found a lot of the waiters on this ship and indeed staff, quite surly, not at all what we’d experienced on previous cruises (notP&O). Our cabin Steward was fabulous. I’d give 5 stars for our waiters and cabin steward and 3 stars for the rest we came into contact with! Hence the 4 stars above!
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Ship was same as Sapphire Princess, which we were on 6 months ago, we like the layout and generally speaking the ship was well maintained and clean.
One thing that was unbelievable on this ship was the smoking areas! I’ve never been on a ship with such huge smoking area and one area we really couldn’t believe was on the promenade deck! Walk 3 laps and you’ve walked a mile, sound great and was on the Sapphire Princess but on this ship the majority of the starboard side of this deck was one of the smoking areas.......not what you want when you step outside for a breath of fresh air or some exercise. There was even a smoking area near one of the swimming pools! And because of this the 5 stars become 3.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Beds were very hard and the cabin much smaller than we expected, there were also 2 Pullman beds which we were told came down from the ceiling and we wouldn’t be inconvenienced by them WRONG! They were on the side walls and were very intrusive!
Our cabin steward kept our cabin spotless, he was brilliant
Ship tip
Be prepared to queue! I’ve never queued on a ship before, so much so we’ve renamed the P&Q!
Love Lanzarote but been here on holiday so many times before but Arrecife is not the best of the island - Lanzarote has lots of beautiful places to visit if you’re new to the island
Agree with everything you say . Siestasue ,Previously been on Cunard and Royal Caribbean and found service in the bars very slow although prices of drinks good.
We also found the smoking areas particularly off putting.
The only problem we had were ripping up and relaying new carpets the dust the smell of glue and varnish there were a couple of passengers on ship and on journey back home on coach back home my husband and myself were not to good with having a cough from Thursday 2nd May my husband had to go to hospital on a drip all the dust and glue varnish came through air con we had balcony so I feel sorry for those that had inside rooms we are still laid up other than that overall was ok
