Review summary

We felt pampered from the beginning to the end of our cruise. Positives were: plenty of luggage storage and closet space in stateroom; in-shower decanters were a nice touch; great selection of evening movies; stateroom excellently maintained by staff who were very friendly and eager to please; great Cruise Director!Negatives were: lack of adequate power outlets in the stateroom; poor quality reception of stateroom television; confusing interior design of the ship; temperature too cold in the theater room; and lack of separate, quiet room for reading.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food in the dining room was the best we've ever experienced on a cruise ship - first class all the way!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The Test Kitchen experiences were very informative and enjoyable, although the room was kept way too cold.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We were awed by the professionalism and talent of the Veendam Singers and Dancers - The Cruise Director was the best!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Everything was well-maintained; however, the ship's layout left a lot to be desired. It was confusing having the promenade decks not go straight through the ship.

Ship tip

Make sure you bring a power strip as there is only one outlet in the cabin and one razor outlet in the bathroom.

This was our favorite port. The layout of the Old City vs. the New City was amazing and we were in awe of everything.

Electrical matters are controlled for the safety of passengers. TV reception is governed by your location in respect to satellites. Much of the programming is either ship original, news channels, or other non-standard broadcast. For reading, there is a very nice library on this ship.
