Not impressed with Holland America. Saved up and thought we'd get more pleasure for the money. May not ever cruise with them again. Did enjoy the ride to Cuba though! Staff, food and the ship/stateroom was not what we expected and remain disappointed.

Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Not impressed with the cuisine or the service. Most staff were kind, friendly and attentive, but some were rude and seemed put out by our presence.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Shows were mediocre and few times available. Movies were not capable of accomodating the hearing impaired and sound quality was poor.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
We enjoyed the bar entertainers. Especially the Piano bar and the Violin/piano duet. They were fantastic. On board games were a little boring to us. Needs updating.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Service was slow in our room and about average. Waiters were good and pleasant. I had expected more from Holland and cruising with other lines. Was hoping for more for the money.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Ship was recently refurbished, but she still shows her age. Much smaller ship, but I understand the older/smaller ships are the only ones capable of navigating the two Cuban ports and larger ship are unable to dock at all.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Just okay. We were told at booking we might be offered a complimentary upgrade if suites did not sell out. However the three of us remained in a smaller room on a lower desk. nice feature was a bathtub, which our friend enjoyed.
Ship tip
their are only a limited number of electrical outlets. if you need to charge or run personal electronic devices bring and extension cord with extra outlets.
Okay port. small area, but I booked a separate scuba adventure as a Ship Excursion was not available. Wife and friend took the Conch Train Tour and went shopping before we had lunch.
Love the port and the city. Booked a private tour under the People to People requirement for the Visa. We had a great time with Yosel from "I Love Cuba Photo Tour!"
Winds were high and Captain cancelled this Port. Very Sad. We booked this tour just so we would have more than one port of call in Cuba. Oh well, the things you do in the name of naval safety. Lots of people lost money on this debacle.
Like the beach and booked the ship's excursion for scuba diving. Very happy with Dive-in scuba adventures. Had a great time. Then went snorkeling with wife on a recommended Beach down the road by Taxi.
