Review summary

I highly reommend this cruise. Beautiful sights. Plan to spend time before and after in Montreal and Boston. Lots going on both places. Sydney is the only disappointment. Holland America is great but would recommend mostly for mature travelers. Young people might be a little bored.

The evening meals were particularly good in formal dining. Great service by Dani and head waiter. The Italian buffet in Lido area at late lunch time was superior. Ice cream also a treat. We do prefer to serve ourselves at buffet but understand reasons for having some food dipped. It is just not convenient to wait for a crew member to hand us a package of syrup.

Trivia very fun. Wish marriage game wasnt scheduled during our dinner. Why not have it on the day at sea?

Entertainment

Violinist was outstanding!!!!! Neptune band took up a huge room and was not well received. Piano bar repeated songs continuously but was one of better choices. Richard Rubin was amazing and the comedian has good clean entertainment. Dancers were great, singers average. Loved the Indionesian show. Nice to see Holland America encouraging staff to show their talents and celebrate their cultures.

Ari in the Lido buffet was outstanding. I hope I spelled his name right. He went above and beyond to serve us. Jeremy, the cruise director was very visable and helpful.

They actually changed our room to an outside room. Our room was great abd Warman was eager to please.

Ship tip

Be careful about planning a shore excursion too early in Bar Harbor. We had a 10:00 tour and we made it but it was stressful due to customs and tendering.
