Review summary

This review will include both positive and negative commentary on what is normally seen as a top cruise line experience with Holland America.  It is the second cruise for us and still not up to par with other lines.

Ship Quality

The ship needs and will be getting a refurb. The toilets worked intermittently..not good.

Cabin / Stateroom

cabin was decent, though smaller than other lines, steward did a good job, toilet only worked intermittently (not good!). Ship is in need of a refub and curely these cabins will get a facelift, too. Nice roomy balcony area is great for the warm weather cruises.

Ports of call

Key West, Florida

Rent a small golf cart that is street legal. Gets you around with ease. Would love more time in port but docking restrictions don't allow.

Trujillo, Honduras

Take a local tour with HAL..get a close up look at a developing area, too bad it will someday be spoiled by the normal cruiseline mentality of huge jewelry stores, etc. Hopefully not and the goods for sale will continue to be made right in Honduras or neighboring countries instead of China..saw none of that..YET.

Santo Tomas De Castilla, Guatemala

5 out of 5
Take the eco tour..learn about the country and appreciate its growth.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

Skip the usual cruise line stores, seek out locals but caution about stuff made in China and Phillipines. Watch for local labels. Skip the segway tour, it's a total waste of money
