Review summary

I will never again cruise with Tui/Marella for a number of reasons, but mostly the way you are treated if anything goes wrong. You are no longer a person but a nuisance. Every way they can squeeze another £ out of you they will, from booking specific seats on plane to specific cabin at time of booking, and no guarantee you will get either.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Check in at Gatwick airport was smooth but a member of the check in passengers was clearly suffering with a heavy cold ( which went through the ship in ensuing days) was not questioned about her illness despite making a declaration you had not suffered with in last 48hrs. Also Tui staff very dogmatic to the point of being rude.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was ok but not cruise standard in my opinion

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
joined in the twice daily quiz which soon became monotonous. Mini golf was ok

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Having been sold this cruise as a Swing theme, which didn't materialise, the entertainment was worse than X Factor preliminary rounds. Despite the demographic on board the music was to please those performing it.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
There were a few who went above and beyond, namely Angel who worked the pool area usually in the afternoon. The Maitre'd in the main dining room upper level.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
the ship was kept clean

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Plenty of storage space. Do not book this cabin if you want to sleep in the am. Passengers drag the sun beds across the deck above and all can be heard underneath, Ship not interested in stopping this, expecting you to get dressed and go down to Guest Services and report.....even at 5:30am

Ports of call

Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands

4 out of 5
we just embarked but have visited a number of times previously

Cartagena, Spain

4 out of 5
visited on a sunday but was pleasant engough to walk around

Funchal, Madeira

4 out of 5
Again been here before. this time we visited Blandy's on a tour, booked from the UK

St. John's, Antigua

4 out of 5
Lovely after 5 days at sea. the church at the top of the hill, seen from the ship, is stunning to visit and if you walk a little further up the road you come to the old Cricket ground for which tours can be done. Found a stunning little restaurant which a lot of ships crew eat in, always a good sign.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

5 out of 5
did the Sugar Train excursion, expensive but well worth it.

Bridgetown, Barbados

3 out of 5
only got off the ship to go to hotel and airport

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
Due to our plane being pulled at Gatwick on the flight out to meet us, the crew that did fly out on another plane were out of hours, so we had to wait until they had had their mandatory 12 hr rest period, we were put up in very poor standard hotel, having been kept waiting on the ship for information every couple hours meaning we couldn't explore Bridgetown, not that it would have been much as it was a Sunday and closed

I hear you, it seems if you have a problem to them you are the problem. Had a bad experience with Holland and they just refused to deal with it.
