Review summary

We sailed with four friends from Church on our third group outing. The shore excursions were always terrific, exceeding the descriptions in our pre-cruise package. Photographer Ronnie Carrington provided tips and viewing angles on Barbados. A week prior to driving from New York to Ft. Lauderdale my wife developed ocular shingles....a painful nerve disorder on the left side of her head in the hairline. Our local HMO provided the correct diagnosis and medicines. Our Opthalmologist approved our journey and gave us his business card in case the ships doctor needed to discuss the case. We got to know the Doctor on board the Sun Princess and staff in three visits. Medicine was procured in Curacao, and recommendation for follow-up on shore in Florida provided continuous after-care.

We stayed on the pier side of town, walking the streets among the locals and avoided the usual tourist places.
Don't Miss: The bus tour taking in many photographic opportunities. The colors

We enjoyed the BBQ and 4 person paddleboats. By the time we walked to get our cabana, we would have had to walk another distance, and gave up!
Don't Miss: The views of the ship!

Margarita (Isla De Margarita), Venezuela

The tram ride in the Rain Forest and the optional walk-thru, culminating in the suspension bridge walk is one of my life's best achievements. Retiring from Science teaching six years ago, this experience was a personal goal. Our singing guide and a little rain made this a spectacular journey!
Don't Miss: The tram ride and walk with view of the waterfalls!

Don't Miss: The travel tour to see an overview.

Pros: The mature atmosphere respecting our needs for a restful vacation away from artificial onboard games and contests. The food and decor and service was far above average! We were impressed that beverages were not pushed by the staff everywhere.

Cons: Rushing from a wonderful early-seating dinner to get a 'good seat' or seat our small group of six together was seldom fun. We saw a fight break out over folks saving seats. Wish there was another method.
