Review summary

We were really looking forward to this as it was our first Princess cruise it was a nice ship the food was beautiful and good quality compared to P&O however we felt the service quality and overall staff friendliness was lacking also there wasn't many activities such as bean bag tossing, quoits etc which was disappointing. We are not in a hurry to return to Princess but will try some other cruiseline but we did however enjoy ourselves and possibly could cruise again with Princess if there was a good deal.

Embarkation

Seamless

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main Restaurant was nice however was squashy and little disorganized with service we prefer the service on the Pacific Dawn it's far superior the food was scrumptious!!!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Loved the Kiwi Comedian he was fabulous. Loved the Caribbean style band Enjoyed the salsa class

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The kiwi Comedian was the best, dancers were ok but kind of bit risque for family entertainment.

Children's Programs

No kids with us.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
At least 80%+ of the time my room key didn't work so literally every single day I had to traipse down & get it fixed at least once! It was kind of a weird setup in the buffet restaurant as there was one way in and out a little strange if you forgot something and had to go right back around the staff were great there.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Very clean. Layout was a little bizarre the Sports Lounge was extremely undersized especially for watching football and also Karaoke. Sometimes the Caribbean bands playing spot lacked atmosphere as it was too open even though they were fabulous.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
I accidentally booked an inside cabin which I've never done before however it was fine although there was not enough room to walk around one side of the bed and it had no bedside table at all so I had to put my glasses etc on the floor. The room was clean and quiet.

Ship tip

We went with a large group approx 40 people yet we always were able to have our own time which was nice you're never bored nor do you ever feel bad for just resting and relaxing I call it the mum's/wife's real holiday no cooking no cleaning true R&R. Cancel your gratuities and only tip your servers/cabin staff as they are on very low wages, work very long hours and have such a pleasant disposition and the greatest attitude and work ethic. Get as familiar with the ship and everything on board as much as possible before travelling and make sure you have everything for special nights etc they're Great Fun!

Ports of call

Brisbane, Australia

Embarkation Port

Airlie Beach, Queensland, Australia

5 out of 5
We loved this port it was certainly a welcome break from all the many pacific islands local hawkers harassing to make a dollar although understandable it can be overwhelming at times.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Fabulous as we got the latest time and it was seamless and quick

sorry to read about your cruise .at times this happens but dont let one time spoil the rest. seeing it was your first on Princess did you research the ship/line beforehand.I ask coz you wll learn that Princess tends to be for the 50-60+age not teens below 45 etc differnt climate in all aspects. we here have used princess 9 cruises an NOT 1 complaint.

They're only small weighted bags which you throw into a graduated ramp with a hole ....great fun!!!

Interesting activity - bean bag tossing! Never considered doing that activity while on a cruise. Just me, I guess.
