Review summary

I really, really enjoyed the sea days. It was so relaxing not having to worry about what time to go to bed or get up in the morning, eating whenever I wanted. The staff was so accommodating and helpful. What I didn't care for was stopping in Ensenada as one of the ports. This area is not safe and not at all representative of Mexico. The rest was practically perfect. I would recommend this cruise to anyone, particularly if you are 50+ years old. Enjoy!

The Los Angeles cruise terminal was crowded, but very organized. The staff members were very helpful.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

We tried Sabatino's, which really wasn't very good. However, the Crown Grill more than made up for it. The steaks there were unbelievably tender and delicious. I also enjoyed grabbing those wonderful sandwiches and desserts from the International Cafe (although I do wish they would serve a better grade of coffee, like Peats or Starbucks). We ate most of our meals at the Horizon Court Buffet, which was pretty good (for a buffet). We did not eat any meals in the traditional dining room, so I cannot comment on that. We also ate the occasional pizza and burger at the outside eateries. Good!

Food was just OK. I did not recognize most of what was presented to me as being Italian food. However, the breaded veal was really good. Would not try again.

Onboard Activities

Unless you are into fitness or the pool, there's really not a lot offered on this ship. If you crave solitude during the day or like to listen to beautiful live music, you will enjoy this cruise.

The night time entertainment was very good, especially the "Born to Dance" production show. You will enjoy the night time entertainment.

Princess Theater

Wonderful venue with first-rate productions.

Service and Staff

Every single staff person I dealt with was wonderful and helpful. Always smiling, courteous and professional. Our cabin steward was a delight.

Ship Quality

The ship was always very clean, but it definitely needs an upgrade. We noticed that the decor was very 1980s. We had a mid-ship cabin on Deck 10 so it was conveniently located to just about everything.

Ports of call

Hilo, Hawaii

Was disappointed that my helicopter trip was cancelled due to weather. Nobody's fault, for sure.

Honolulu, Oahu

Our Pearl Harbor tickets, which were already bought and paid for, were somehow sold to another party, so we did not get to go on this tour.

Nawiliwili, Kauai

What a beautiful island! Go on the bus tour around the entire island. So worth it!

Lahaina, Maui

Went whale-watching and enjoyed learning about the whales. Saw at least 10 of them.

Ensenada, Mexico

This is not a safe city, not even a beautiful city. In my opinion, stopping here was a total waste of time.

I was impressed how quickly they organized thousands of passengers off of the ship. Plus, our luggage was there in a timely manner. Very impressive.
