Review summary
Loved our stops in Mexico. Loreto and La Paz were the best. Very low key with typical Mexican fair. Great salsa and chips in Loreto at the first restaurant on the right side as you go up toward the church. Did some shopping and great margarita's in every port. Above all the Star Princess and Captain Tuvo made our cruise an excellent vacation. Calm seas all around like being on a lake. Saw various whales and dolphins.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
MDR was pretty good overall. Horizon was average at best. Only had breakfast a few times and lunch once in the Horizon. Not much variety day to day.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Did the Back Stage Tour with the lead dancer and stage manager. Tour was very enlightening as to how much goes into doing a production show. Born to Dance is a new show and was very good. Stage props and dancers were an upgrade vs. previous cruises.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Roger our room steward was great. Always did what we wanted with no interference. Room was always clean and tidy. MDR and dining staff were all good. All staff was pleasant and helpful as needed.
Cabin / Stateroom

Premium balcony is wonderful. Used it a lot on our Mexican cruise. Fresh air is always nice to have. Room is small but as expected. Kept nice and clean by our room steward, Roger.
Ship tip
Book it when Captain Tuvo is in command. He is very visible around the ship. Even cleared dishes during coctails for Elite/Platinum's in Skywalker's. Kept us all informed each day and during two medical emergencies. One required a Coast Guard helicopter fly in from San Diego.
Easy embarkation and disembarkation. We walked off the ship and were out of parking lot by 8:20am. On the ship by 10:30am. It was great and very easy to park, etc.
Too many spring breakers in the marina area to be able to enjoy the shops and restaurants. Excursion we took was just OK - went to a glass blowing factory, etc.
Enjoyed the low key atmosphere of La Paz. Nice individual shopping booths on the Malecon. Tour we took around town, pottery factory and museums was OK. Tour guide Emmanual was great.
Trip to Coronado Island was a nice boat ride - about an hour. Went around the island and stopped to snorkel. Water was too cold, minimal fish at best, primitive facilities. Would not recommend vs. the cost. Went into town and had great salsa - best ever, at the first restaurant on left going toward the church. Nice Malecon walking area. Vendors would not bargain much.
Walked around near the ship. Went to Walmart to compare to USA. Went to a casino across from the ship. Was not bad but had a hard time figuring out Peso vs USD$. Lost all in the end anyway. Right at the ship is a restaurant (Buccaners?) with great nacho's and potent margaritas. Good shopping area and they will bargain. Did not go into PV downtown area as been there before.
